Location: Gainesville, TX | Sounds like everyone is doing about what I do too.
Long johns, tights, then jeans long john shirt, a sweater, a hoodie, a jacket, coveralls over all of it three socks, outside ones are wool two pairs of gloves, one tight and thin and a pair of somewhat insulated ones. One of those earwarmer things and a hat.
I don't ride in the cold much anymore, living where I do, but it could and did get colder when I lived in Amarillo and that's what I wore. Windchill is definitely the worst though. |

Location: The Oklahoma plains. | SC Wrangler - 2013-12-04 9:45 AM They make a battery operated insole for boots/shoes that is supposed to be awesome. It even comes with a remote control to adj the temp. Kinda pricey, but probably cheaper than frostbite.
Do you know anyone that has them? What is pricey? As long as my feet, hands and head is warm- I can do lots of things.....except ride- but I can hardly do that in ideal condidtions! |

I also LOVE my Boggs boots..they are hideous looking, but they keep my feet so warm.
If its too cold or windy I have the luxury of not riding. |

They are now making heated clothing with rechargeable battery packs.
I have the 12V gear (heated socks, pant liners, jacket liner, and glove liner) for my motorcycle, I can ride comfortably with it being below freezing |

How did I not know about this?! Silly, considering I sit with an electric blanket every night...should have been a no-brainer! |

| I have two the white camo is a Burton and I have a solid black one that is a Columbia. :) when I get new horses in to ride they are a little afraid of me (I must look like some sort of monster) but they get used to it fast when the monster feeds them daily LOL and it is super comfortable to ride in!! It isn't bulky feeling like coveralls. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | there are double layered jeans by carhart that work real well. Snow pants work good too but real slick on a saddle. I like the thermal english riding gloves. A wool vest will keep the wind at bay and a little toasty and a thick down jacket. |

Location: a secret | I have several things that are must haves for cold weather. A full piece ski suit. I use to ski so it was easy to trasition to riding. I find ski clothin much more adaptable to horse back riding as they let you move more freely than the bulky canvas clothing. I also will use silk thermal with Kerrits english fleece lined pants. They are typically used in the english world but I find them to be comfortable and with the suede lining I use it as the perfect magic seat... I stay really warm and enjoy winter riding because I have the perfect clothing..... |

Yep, it takes the Carhartt coveralls for me too. I ride bareback a lot just because its warmer. Up here there's no way to stay warm unless your dressed bulky and in layers. I wear Schnee's boots in the western packer style, ski goggles, neck warmer that I can pull up on my nose if needed, heavy leather thinsulate gloves and of course a warm hat with a hood. |

I forgot about Schnees boots! I used to drool over a certain pair when I was younger (I used to be so cold in the winter!!). I'll have to relook at them :) |

Everyone in our family has a pair. They are spendy but worth it. The western packers are rated for -35. |
