| It is a goal in my life. My human kids are too young for me to have the time it takes to make a NFR horse. I really should've done this before I had children so if I do ever make it I will be one of the older ladies.. lol |

| I voted yes. Ever since I was a little girl, it's been a dream. Financially, I don't see it happening...as I'm 30, and just now have a horse (made on my own) that is fast. He's been running like a champ lately, and it gets me excited and hopeful for the future! Granted, I am by no means ready to go buy my permit...but it's a dream for sure, one that I'd love to make come true! I have decided to go as far as selling my phenomenal cutter who I kick butt on to buy a prospect...as I can't afford to do both, and I know I have a good horse right now that needs to be hauled and will need backup in the future! |

Everybody loves winning but most of what the successful pros that make it year after year have in common is they can endure and even thrive off the lows most people just can't handle going through time and again. I don't think I could love being away from my home and family that much. I love being home and working colts and spending time with my husband. If I had the money to go on the road I would spend it on an indoor arena and be able to ride year round here. My goal is to breed, raise, and train successful barrel horses; I love that process with all of it's pain and frustrations. |

Location: PNW | The NFR is definitely in my goals. I have a horse now, who is sure athletic enough to do it, the biggest hurdle I predict will be his mind. He isn't super confident yet, and I don't know that he would deal with the lights, noises, and "scary things" at a rodeo.
My "plan" for him is to haul him to some 4Ds this coming year and start getting him seasoned to different grounds, sights, and sounds, and really get each other figured out. He's a totally different horse than I've ever ran before as he is super free running, and I've only ever had push styles before.
Depending on how he is doing, 2015, I will either continue with the 4Ds if I think he needs it, or will start taking him to amatuer rodeos.
I plan to take everything REALLY slow with him, because again, I want to make sure he stays mentally sound.
I hope to buy my WPRA permit by 2017 make circuit finals my rookie year.
I hope to make the NFR by 2020. But I don't want to be riding a fire breathing dragon like Twisted Sister. I like the behavior of Louie better.
My guy is super important to me and at no point will I jeopardize either his physical or mental health for the sake of the NFR. I will push him to be the best he can, but not to his breaking point.

| I got my fix in college. I have had a pro-rodeo caliber horse so I have had my share of rodeoing. I am just glad that I am still able to ride in 4D's. Never wanted to be like Martha Josey and qualify for 5 decades. |

Location: Arkansas | I have always wanted to make a go at it, ever since I was a young girl. I am by no means in the position to do it now, but will be working towards it soon! I just have to get school out of the way and get my life in order! I think the hardest thing I will have to overcome is not being home. I love life on the road and have done it for long periods of time, but I can be a home body. Good luck to you all that want to try for the finals! It will be a long, tough road but thats why everyone in rodeo is like a family. We need each other! |

Location: on my horse | It is for sure one of my goals! I've said ever since I was old enough to know what rodeo was and started tagging along with my mother that I was going to Vegas one day to run at the TM. I had an up and coming colt that I thought felt athletic enough to get it done, but he ended up being navicular so I'm back on the hunt for a prospect, I lost my little gray mare that I showed you guys on here a couple months ago because she didn't stay sound either so this time around I'm hoping I can find another good prospect that is sound! |

| I said yes because It is my goal to become a professional, but I want to make it on a horse that I trained, not one that I bought. 1. Because I think that would be most satisfying making it on something that you started and got to that level and 2. because I can NOT afford one of that caliber haha! |

| I said yes. I think I have the horse, I just need to get my head in the game and ride her like she needs to be ridden. Maybe around 2016-2017 we can make a run for it. |

Location: Kansas | Dr. J - 2013-12-08 1:00 PM rodeowithjoker - 2013-12-07 11:33 PM I'd love to try for it, just not sure if I'll ever have the financial backing to give it a shot. If I can get things lined out with Clifford this winter and get Chance back at the top of his game, I might dive in and buy my permit next year. Chance likes the rodeos better than jackpots and I think he'd eat the Prairie Circuit arenas up, but I know its not worth trying the pro shows if I don't have two at that level. Odds are making circuit finals is a better long term goal for me unless I find a money tree somewhere or stumble onto another horse with loads of talent, but its fun to dream about the NFR when you think you have a horse with that type of talent. Maybe someday....... I keep wondering when you are going to get your permit. I think you'll do well at the circuit rodeos. You have done a great job training your horses to get you there.
I don't have NFR dreams, mostly because I am 3D/4D, but also because I wouldn't like to travel like that. I had a lot of fun rodeoing in high school and college, but now I like the jackpot environment better.
Thanks. I think Cliff just might be my ticket especially after our run today at Tulsa. I left the alley thinking we made a good run until I bumped the third, but I watched the video and there's way more than 7/10ths worth of mistakes on it. 15.886 won it and he was a 16.537 so I am going to dedicate this week to only running him and try to get our timing down because he's almost certainly going to be better than Chance. (Apparently he didn't think the jackpots were worth his time because he pretty much loped both days IMO).
If I can finish this year making good 1D runs on Cliff, I just might get my permit next year and try to fill it while also making a run at URA finals and the IRA title. Gonna need more than one rodeo horse to do all that. :) |

| I said I don't know! I honestly love the thought of accomplishing a goal like that but HONESTLY don't know where I'll be in the next 5 years! I have an idea but I'm a sophomore in college and just am not sure if it's something I'd want to do in the future. I don't have the skills, a NFR caliber horse, or the resources to get that point right now but maybe someday! I plan on graduating from WVU with a business degree in 2016, taking the best job opportunity available to me and get my Masters in business online while working and possibly opening up an equipment company or something in the future, getting married in about 2-4 years (I have a boyfriend of 3 years, lol), and who knows! I just don't know!! But it's fun to dream about Kudos to you all working on this goal |

I've got a few nice enough horses in the barn and maybe a couple more in the making. I'm thinking that maybe I've found a jockey. We'll be running here in our circuit this year and see how things go...
Now that would be really cool Andy, good luck |

Would love to see you walking your horse and jockey down the tunnel of the NFR in the next couple of years, that would be so cool. |

Location: Not sure yet | TSlashO - 2013-12-08 9:41 AM I wouldn't say it is a goal of mine but given an opportunity I wouldn't say no! :) I am making my own horses. It is a priority to me to run a horse I made. I would rather never make it than make it on a horse I don't own or didnt have part of their early years. Making our circuit finals is my main goal. Making my own horse is a process, I wouldn't consider myself a trainer, so I know that it will take a long time and several horses to find that magic cross. Maybe it will never happen but Im going to keep trying because I truely enjoy the process. :) if nothing else, I will have lots of horses around for my daughter to choose from when she is ready to step up :)
You took the exact words right out of my mouth. You have the same outlook on this as I. Thanks for saving me all the typing. |

| It's always been a goal to make it at least once. I'm not sure if it's a realistic goal for me. I think I have the riding ability to do so. I currently do not have the horse. My game plan would be to win our state rodeo association finals. Then shoot for the Great Lakes Circuit Finals. After that I would try for the NFR. I would personally want to attempt the rookie of the year while making it to my first NFR. I think that is what Taylor Jacob did? I could be wrong. Anyways, I give myself till I'm 30 (25 now) since that is when I plan to start a family. I actually like traveling with horses, whenever I'm away at 3 day long races I never want to go home. I also love rodeos much more then barrel races. I just have not had a rodeo horse in a few years since retiring my mare. |

I don't want to travel that much and I don't particurlarly like rodeos. I prefer to b*tch about the ground to someone that might care. |
