If you don't like the pattern, don't haul pro and try to qualify.
FYI, some pro shows are won in 12's............at least Corpus Christi used to me, I think they may have moved it since my mare ran there/ If I remember right, Black Hills is a 13 second pattern. There are a lot of indoor pens that are as small as T&M.
I still don't really understand the problem. They go to pro rodeos with the goal of making the finals. Why go to all the time and money and effort to try to make the finals if you don't like T&M? Yes Rapid City rodeo pen is smaller than T & M So thats 2 in the country... There's way more than 2 in the country. There's a pen in Nebraska or Iowa that's an 11 second pen. Most of the arena in my area are 14 second pens. It's what's available & everyone knows going in what the conditions are & the size of the pattern. If you don't like it don't go.....oh wait......you can't.
Oh man he's got us.....he gave us dislikes!!! |

but....i'm pretty sure valley city is smaller than t&m
but it's a good question.....can you hit way more big pens than small pens..??? i would bet so....at least where there's big money....but if you're goal is to get to NFR and go after a buckle, you know what's at the end so they can certainly prepare

A little button doesn't scare me. I just wish they could hand rake after every 5. It wouldn't hurt anything to give the girls a few more minutes on their event. Most of the other events have at least 3 commercial breaks & the girls usually are done between commercials. |

Location: Pacific Northwest | Almost all of the arenas in my area are 14 second patterns or smaller so I don't see the big deal about running on a small pattern for the NFR. And it really doesn't matter because the top 15 are all in the same boat. They are all running in a small arena on trashy ground. Obviously it doesn't bother Bo considering he's ran like the fastest NFR times in history all in the same year.
ETA and like everyone else has pointed out, it's not like they don't know where they have to run when they start. Obviously they know if they make the NFR they will need to be able to run in the T&M. If you haul an entire year and are in the top 15 and not prepared with a horse that you think will do well at the T&M then you really suck at planning ahead LOL

OK, I take it back then sorry Just that I stay up to watch the barrels and I love to ride with the girls, I'm really careful in what threads I open cause I dont want to lose that excitment that comes with the barrels. |

| San Angelo was won this year with a 15.59...These are the only 2 cities I looked up and both were 2 seconds over the T&M times. |

Um what would Taylor hitting a barrel have to do with you thinking they shouldn't have the NFR at the T&M? And why would you ever wish hitting a barrel on anyone, that's like the worst barrel racing karma ever, it practically guarantees you will hit a barrel at your next 5 races (only half-joking!) |
