My Mare always has to Itch her face when I stop when I'm riding her... I dont' know WHY she always thinks she's itchy! She never wants to stand still when I get on her so I have to make her work almost everytime before she will stand still! She's smart too, if I don't have a treat when I go to catch her, she knows it and runs a way lol.

My grey is cinchy, if you even touch the cinch to her belly while she is tied she will freak out..other than that she is perfect. she also will NOT step on a pole, she has always been scared of them when they are lying down... she loves runninng poles but will jump them if they are on the ground.

I think quirks are what make horses unique and fun! :) always a challenge.

Fly LOVES drinking water when we're somewhere -- slurps it, slops it around the bucket, then when she's done, holds a mouthfull in her mouth for 30 seconds or so. If I'm not careful she'll dump that mouthful all over me Always entertaining.

Although as much as she loves drinking water, she does not like to go into water. My previous horses always loved riding into and playing in our pond, but she wants nothing to do with it. On a hot day I try to tell her she would really like it. She's not buying it though.

My gelding likes to dunk his head in the water tank, almost to his eyeballs, and slosh water all over the place. Mostly in warm weather. He picked that up from a little mare I had for awhile. He likes to take the water hose out of the tank. He will stand tied, but moves all over the place when I'm trying to saddle him. Kind of like trying to saddle a worm.

When Lucky's bored he loooves flipping his head around with the bit in his mouth to try and flip up a rein or even his shank to chew on it. Such a goofball.

And he loves water and drinking from the hose!

My paint gelding would fling his head left to right really fast when he saw you with a grain bucket and when you'd ask him "Do you want it??" He would fling his head up an down. Another cute thing he did, when I would leave to go to school, he would always neigh like he was saying "Bye Mom!! See Ya Later!!" When you rubbed his belly, he'd stick his lip up an twitch it. He was such a character.

My mare ALWAYS has to scratch her head on your butt when you got off her. When she gets excited she also moves her head left to right really fast. It's adorable. Every say she has to paw until she gets her grain and before she makes her run at a show.

My main girl is strange.. I love her to peices! But, she is marish. And sweet.. if thats possible lol.

She can just stand alone in her paddock and kick out squeeling just cause. She has broken many fences, board etc. When I first purchased her the barn owner put her in with another horse for a week. They seemed to be best friends, and then one day she cornered him and kick the #%@# out of him and he almost went through the stall wall.. I replaced the boards, payed offered to pay her vet bill.. he had a swelling everywhere and is 30 she said no as it was her fault. My mare spent two months healing from a small cut that got infected on her back leg.

So now she lives by herself OR in a large field where others can get away.. She will spin on her front end waiting for soemone to get close at times its entertaining, but stressfull at same time!

She is super sweet to me though! lol. Gives non stop kisses, loves loves attention. When she is in heat she can be rather annoying though as she wants to rub up on everything. Yet kick it at same time. She can go into heat once every other week sometimes.

Despite all the drama involved with her, she has a ton of heart, loves to work and does anything I ask of her. Shes only 5 so thinking she will mellow out with age.. but we shall see :)

I have a horse that likes to cross her back legs when she is resting. My old rope horse likes to stand sideways at the trailer and has taught all of our other horse to do the same. He will also pull things out of the trailer to find treats if you leave the tack room door open. I used to have a horse that like to back up to anything and everything and rub his back leg on it. Another one of my mares hates when other horses walk ahead of her on the way home. She flips her head, pins her ears and attempts or threatens to bite the other horse.

Dee has to wash her mouth out and splash in the water bucket before getting a drink, she also has to have her supplement treats crushed into powder and hid in her feed for her to eat them (it's made of apples, carrots and molasses only its for high performance horses and she will NOT eat it, she will pick around any little piece of it if you don't completely crush it)

Archie is proud cut, so he is a professional stall climber. He's also gate sour unless it's an alley, then he's fine. He's bipolar, and I think a decendant of a professional bucking horse, everyone says he would give a cowboy a good bucking ride with how flashy he bucks. (Great thing to have isn't it), but he could only be a saddle bronc because he only cow hops bareback. He likes his twisted wire combination long shank better than his snaffle bit (he refuses to even let me put it in his mouth now, when he opens his mouth for the twisted wire before I even get to him. That is his only pro)

Mic is impossible to bath without getting soaked as he likes to grab onto the hose and play with it, and almost always manages to squirt it right at you. If he cant do that, he will stand on it and you cant bath him at all.

He paws uncontrollably if my husband stands between him and I, but the second we trade spots he'll put his head down and behave.

He also likes to back his bum around so he can scratch the inside of his hocks on the fender of the trailer... If you're willing to scratch the inside of his hind legs for him he'll make every face in the book, and you'll be friends for life (as long as you're female- he tolerates men, but makes it known that he's not a fan).

Also, if he sees someone holding a Tim Hortons cup he will darn near do back flips to have a taste of whats in it. HE is known for knocking over any cup around him and licking up its contents, unless you're willing to hold the cup up and give him a sip.

Yes, i am fully aware that he is obnoxiously spoiled, but I love him. haha

graciemay - 2013-12-19 10:39 AM When she gets nervous, Six will hold one foot up, but won't actually paw.

My gelding does that! Especially when he is waiting for grain( he is the last to get fed) he also will lick you to death. If you stand there long enough he will lick anything! I've had my face licked more by a horse in my life than any person should ever be licked by anything!

and Hemi while I'm giving him a bath when I go to spray between his legs he will lift up his leg on whichever side I'm on!

My gelding does the same as some else stated.  Once we run and knows he dun good and he wants his headstall OFF! I even run him in a hackamore lol he don't care.

He is also a big watcher! He will perk his ears and watch every barrel racer go, he gets aggrivated if there are signs in his view and has to lift his head reallllll high!

He ALSO is a bit of a pest and pulls back on occassion, it made me laugh to hear that Stingray gives Sherry that "look" before so blowns up and that is exactly what my guy does. Love him

My grey mare will lift her right front foot as soon as she takes a mouthful of grain, she also really....and I can not stress....really likes her "teets" scratched...and yes I'm a perv because I scratch them for her LOL.

She will also stick her top lip out and "test" the hot wire fence, this is a daily occurence LOL, if the fence is off...she will lean over it for left over hay/grass

Mine pees in the same exact spot every time and buries his poop like a cat. He also unties himself and nips me when he is bored. Never a dull moment.

My main guy is SUPER buddy sour with my mare I've been hauling lately, and he hates to be more than 10 feet away from her. She could care less, but his world is going to end if he isn't next to her. If he does have to leave her for a run, he is an absolute jerk until he gets back to her and can physically touch her with his nose. Its not enough to be next to her or see her, he HAS to bump her with his nose. He gets angry whenever any horse bites him, yet (to him) its completely ok for him to bite other horses. My retired gelding is a huge chatter box when its feeding time. He's this 16 hand tank and whinnys like a baby, super high pitched and cute. He also has recently began slamming his feed bucket against the wall as he eats - making a HUGE racket. My mare constantly paws in her stall if she knows I'm getting close to her stall to clean it. And the more bedding you put in her stall, the cleaner she keeps it. If there is just the minimum bedding in her stall, she will make the biggest mess you've ever seen, bed her nice and deep and more spoiled than any horse should be, she pees in one spot and poops in another. My sister had a mare for a while who would poop a pyramid on her 50lb salt block. No matter where it was in her stall, she'd build a pyramid by the end of the day!

My mare loves to smell peoples faces and hair! Nothing like showing some family your horse and having her shove her big nose in their faces.

Our filly eats EVERYTHING. She has destroyed countless lead ropes, halters, tails, fly masks, she actually pulled down her sun shade and chewed it to pieces. Drags her water bucket around the stall or arena as soon as the water is low enough and ends up dumping the rest out. If we turn her out with another horse she will bicker with them the ENTIRE time. No stopping. She will chase and nip our Shetland mare non stop so can't be turned out together anymore. She has also destroyed 2 hoses that were left in her bucket. I could go on...most annoying horse ever. However, once she is caught she is an angel and rides like a broke 20 year old. Lopes a great pattern already too with less than 30 days on the barrels so I let these things slide.

My mustang makes a HORRIBLY goofy face during feeding time...I can't explain it but will try to get video and post it sometime. It's hilarious! Other than that he's perfect.

HAHA! That just made my morning! It sounds hilarious!!!

If your talking about my poop bucket, it was but the poor old girl got poor all over her and I ended up giving her a bath. She still won. Hahaha!

No the one I was trying to reply to didn't show up on my post, I was originally talking about the horse that sticks out his tongue and makes raspberry noises, that just cracks me up! but yours is pretty funny too! but my horses do that every once in a while and it sucks!! So I feel your pain lol!
