Depends on the brand..
All Yoplait and commercial yogurts have added sugar and the light versions is filled with harmful chemical sweeteners.
The best is organic. I like Brown Cow. its yummy good!
And Stonyfield is another really good organic yogurt.
I like the plain for adding fruit, and love the vanilla and maple cream top made by Brown Cow.
I like balsamic vinegar, or red wine vinegar on my salads.. tasty!

I agree get yourself informed! Start with what healthy foods you actually LIKE...so if you like salads then start with that...and yes prepping is important as well, meals or snacks!! I STRONGLY believe everyone's health is worth the time spent to make good choices!! I do not believe in gimmick weight loss stuff (just not for me cause trust me I've tried a few)
The most IMPORTANT part of getting healthier and losing weight (beside good food & proper portions) is the MENTAL GAME, your mind set has to be RIGHT to allow for the change to be made!!!
It will not happen over night, it will take time to adjust and I will say DO NOT put yourself into an extreme situation!! Food is good and don't beat yourself up cause you slip up and eat a cookie, DOES NOT make you a failure!!!

We eat alot of cereal in this house for breakfast and supper! Sugar and carbs and processed...not good, really. I'm glad it works for you but we own a gym, train a lot of people, have personal trainers and dietiticians working with us all the time and this is not something that any of them recommend. Veggies, fruits, lean meats and a smaller amount of grains and the absolute least amount of sugar in your diet as possible. Stay away, as much as possible, from the whites: sugar, flour, white rice and potatoes all of which turn to sugar when processed by your body.
Every morning, I eat a banana and raw, natural almonds or sometimes I make a little trail mix thing of the almonds and raisins plus I have my banana. So, basically, I start my day off with the things that the good Lord himself provided not something that was concocted in a processing plant. I try to keep the biggest part of my diet consisting of God-made foods. My doctor always says that I have the most consistent weight of anyone he ever sees when taking into the many years I've been going to him. My weight stays smack in the middle of the BMI for my height.
I quit eating anything processed and it has made a world of difference plus I'm not hungry anymore. Wish I had done this years ago.

Location: North Dakota | Well, depending on how much weight you need to lose, visiting a bariatric doctor is a great option. If you just need to lose 20lbs or whatever, not so much, but if you have a significant amount I say do it. I had never heard of them until a few months ago, my mom dragged me to a meeting with her and I started the program in mid-end October. First they tested me and found I do indeed have some insulin resistance and hypothyroidism. Then they started me on "optifast" which is a medical diet that you can ONLY get from a doctor, that consists of shakes, soups, and bars . The shakes come in juice box type packages (you don't have to mix them). You can have some veggies if you want, but the products are easy to take anywhere and really don't tasted bad. I've lost about 30lbs so far. I average 4ish lbs/week.

Bananas, apples, grapes, almonds, other nuts... green beans, squash, leans meats that cooked properly with good seasonings etc. all those types of things are actually quite delicious. If you're talking live off lettuce with oil/vinegar dressing, then, yeah...I would agree.

There is where you are wrong that it is boring and tasteless to eat healthy. For Thansgiving we had duck breasts, with smoked cherry compote, salad full of toasted nuts and berries, sweet potatoes- it was delicious. Christmas is rack of lamb, short ribs, paleo apple pie. I am never hungry and eat good stuff every day. I do not miss breads, chips at all. Once you get away from it it is surprising how you lose the cravings, I thought it would be difficult but it wasn't at all. You couldn't pay me to go back to eating unhealthy, my knees no longer get sore from working out and my skin looks better. I will eat dark chocolate a couple of times a week but balance it out with whole foods the rest of the week.

When I stick to eating Whole Foods, the energy I get is amazing...almost like I'm "on" something! That's the difference in me than when I make the mistake of getting into the processed food, I literally start kind of dragging. My daughter can always tell when I've not been eating healthy, she'll actually tell me, "You've been eating bread and stuff that drags you down, Mom. I know you have, I can tell. You're tired and you're grumpy." And she is ALWAYS right, it totally zaps my energy. The really bad part of so many of the modern, processed foods is that while they are so bad for us and keep us from feeling our best is that they are ADDICTIVE, yes, the more you eat of them, the more you crave them and that is why such a large percentage of people are obese! A good friend gave me some awesome Amish bread that she gives out as gifts. I LOVE it, it's soooo good but it makes me feel soooo bad!!!!

Location: where the wind blows | I agree with the others above. Once you start eating healthy. Ie fruits, nuts, veggies, basically whole foods not processed foods you will be shocked in how different you feel. I use to crave pizza, breads, pastas, fast food. Once I started eating this way after about 3 days my cravings were gone. Now the thought of McDonalds or KFC makes me nauseous. I had some home made bread one day at a friends thinking the fact it was homemade it would be ok, while it didn't make me bloated or icky feeling the next day my cravings were back with a vengeance. I feel so much better eating this way. i was getting groceries the other day snd hubby texted to get some chips. As I put them in the grocery card I had small tinge of a craving thinking oh those dill pickle chips look so good, and I was getting Hungary. When I got to my vehicle I grabbed a mandarin orange and ate it and never gave those chips mother thought. The old me with the cravings would have ripped that bag open and the half the bag driving home. PICK really suggest the book wheat belly. TheDr. Who wrote it explains how the wheat grown today is not he wheat my grandparents grew. And this new wheat is addictive and changes our insulin hence the weight gain. It's a very thought provoking book. As I said I'm not following it to a tea as I don't think it's doable for me. The book says no wheat so even things like ketchup and other condiments with flour are off limits. I've simply eliminated breads, pasta and I allow myself some potatoes and rice but try to keep it minimal. I also eat a lot of fruit which the book thinks has too much sugar in. But my thought is its natural sugar and God made so its one thing I'm not giving up. I'm loosing weight since I started so it can't be that bad. Ponce you start eating this way the though of fast food will turn you off. And believe me I was one of he biggest fast food addicts there was. Now even the thought of a Big Mac turns my stomach. I'll choose the apple and peanut butter.

I'll choose the apple and peanut butter. Great to hear...even with iPad over taking your spelling Speaking of ketchup...I saw on the news that some of the European countries are banning it from school cafeterias because of it's addictive nature, i.e. high fructose corn syrup being the culprit.
Also, we were watching the "History of World" one night and learned that sugar, because of it's addicitve nature, became one of the most valuable crops EVER thus the onslaught of slave labor to keep up with the demand as the World was crazy for it once the taste was acquired. In other words, sugar was the "crack cocaine" of the day...and I kind of think it still is!
Furthermore, for those interested in natural foods, corn was probably the first real genetically modified crop of any significance. Corn, as we know it today, is not anything like the maize that it started out as. Centuries ago farmers learned how to modify it into a form more easily used by humans. It makes you wonder just what corn is when considering it is classified a vegetable yet the body "reads" it as a grain.
