Double check on the new Tahoe's and see if you can get a towing pkg on them that has a larger radiator, oil cooler, and transmission cooler with a factory towing hitch already installed. Also the frame and suspension system are going to be very soft for city slickers .. not meant to do any work ...
... go with a quad cab pickup with at least a 318 cubic inch engine or bigger ... with the towing pkg ... be careful of all the new 1/2 ton pickups ... most are now cars with truck bodies for city people .... the F150 has gotten to be a joke ... they added big wheels and tiny engines for short guys with big egos ... lol...
Definitely get the towing package that has the larger radiator, oil cooler and the transmission cooler!! Also, BE SURE to have sway bars + equalizer installed on your trailer for safety. You will never regret having the sway bar / equalizer. This sway bars keeps your rig stable
(no weaving, whipping about when an 18-wheeler sails past you
) and the equalizer equals out the weight of your trailer so the back of your Tahoe will not be "sitting down" with the weight of the trailer thus making your rig much more stable to drive..... and making your rig safer for you and your horses. It is totally worth the price for the safety and it will make your rig drive and handle so much better. I drove a Yukon and pulled a big-horse Sooner 3-horse slant for several years -- with the towing package, sway bar/equalizer with no problems. I would have never attempted to drive that rig without it. Pulling the trailer home after purchase
(empty
) before install of the sway bars/equalizer was "skeery".
