NJJ - 2014-01-05 9:22 PM This whole thread brings up memories of the past....we hauled (sometimes as many as 5 or 6 men/women) together MANY miles in a stock trailer with dressing room and a two seater truck to Midwest rodeos....You never knew who you were going to wake up next to....and NO we were not all married to each other........I have to agree with DD....if I trusted this man to drive and haul with me and my horses, I sure wouldn't have a problem being in the SAME living quarters with him....unless his wife and your husband have trust "issues".....then that is a whole other can of worms!

Hauling like that also helps you find out who your friends are and who your BEST friends are! lol We've traveled like that and some folks just drove me completely nuts! I'm probably the easiest person to get along with, and I just wanted to slap some people!! haha good times.....

The last summer my husband roped pro his heading partner travelled with us the whole year. We only had a trailer with a weekender, it was mighty comfy the three of us on the bed up top!! Lol of course I had to sleep in the middle as the boys didn't want to worry about touching each other in the middle of the night!! Lol didn't bother me none, I was always warm!
We will be looking for a new trailer in the near future now that we have a toddler and I'm sure more to come and a midtack is a must have as far as I'm concerned, would be so handy for so many different things!

you under the covers he on top the covers.. I have no issues with that at all. if you trust to haul together then you trust to be in sameΒ living space.

This right here made me laugh! This was my arrangement with the guy I hauled with to college rodeos. He was like a brother to me. He's the reason my hubby and I ever really started talking. His way of vouching for me went like this.. "Most of the girls on the team think she's a ***** but I think she's cool and she's a hand." Probably the first part is most truth. Wish I hadn't been quite so tough to deal with on some things and more tough on others.

Any-who...

We'd split the hotel room 15 ways (ok maybe 8) but we'd always share a bed (to guarantee we got one since the other guys would hesitate on who they were sharing with, lol).. No problems with his GF or my now hubby. Lots of miles in the truck with him and we never had a problem at all. I'm sure we raised eyebrows but we didn't care, it was all about saving money and getting to sleep in a bed!!

If I hauled with any guy other than my SO, they would be a friend of his also.  So he would trust them too, because I know he trusts me.  Our trailer has a fold out couch bed, so he could sleep on that.  I've never been worried about that kind of thing.  I slept in the same bed as SO before we ever started dating and I had no worries.  But that's just me I guess. Now that I'm in a comitted relationship I won't do that but the same room? No big deal.  Though Kyle would probably be in the hospital if he weren't going to a rodeo LOL.

You could always pick a guy that swings the other way.  No worries for each of you.

I would never expect someone who was safely getting my horse and myself to rodeos to sleep in the horse part of the trailer, that is just rude, if you feel that it is not "right" to have him sleep on the couch of the trailer then you should look at hiring a female.

I think it comes down to what your husband is comfortable with. Only the parties involved know the real dynamics of your situation. I know I wouldn't want to be on a cot in the trailer, but I also wouldn't be comfortable sharing a bed with someone who was not my spouse. But I am also real funny about things like that. The best option would be to haul in a trailer with two places to sleep.

But if it were me, I'd ask my husband what he was comfortable with. He's the one who also needs to be on board with whatever you decide.

I agree with this. I've always been friends with a ton of guys and so this summer when one of them asked to ride with me to a few rodeos, I didn't have a problem with it. I picked him up at a Wednesday rodeo in western Iowa, we drove to another friend's house (actually an ex boyfriend of mine) and crashed on couches for a few hours, then rolled on to my boyfriends place so I could turn horses out for a while, on to another rodeo, back to the boyfriend's house, where Josh slept in the spare bedroom, to another rodeo Friday night & then did a late night drive to my parents' place, another rodeo on Saturday & back to Mom & Dads, this time with my boyfriend joining the rodeo group. Matt barely knew Josh before this and he wasn't thrilled about Josh riding along with me, but through that week/weekend, they got to be pretty good friends and over New Years Matt couldn't bring me my running bridle because he was helping head Josh's saddle bronc out. It cracks me up that Matt went from not liking Josh riding with me to being such good friends. I think if I needed a travel partner again, Matt would be OK with Josh

That weekend was perfect to pick up a traveling partner because I didn't ever have to sleep in the trailer. It would have been a little awkward since my trailer only has one bed and no air conditioning so blankets are off limits in July.
