Then leaving the first Lady there for more fun. any other president from either party would be criticized to the inth degree. Some of my friends health care just went up 60 to 98%. I've never heard of that either. And on it goes ... And he needs to go !! Actually we d be better off if he stayed in Hawaii for the next 3 years!!
—14: Number of vacation trips taken by Obama since he took office in January 2009.
—92: Number of days, all or in part, Obama has spent on vacation.
—57: Number of vacation trips taken by Bush at this same point in his presidency.
—50: Number of visits Bush made to his ranch in Crawford, Texas.
—323: Number of days, all or in part, Bush spent at the ranch.
—7: Number of trips Bush made to his family’s compound in Kennebunkport, Maine.
—26: Number of days, all or in part, Bush spent in Maine.
Unfortunately you SHOULD do a little research before making statements........Of course, this comparison is only up to August of 2013 so it doesn't include this past trip. Hawaii is a STATE just like TX was for Bush......just warmer........
Additionally, I applaud the person who said....get out and make sure "your" member of Congress is elected in fall 2014.......
Estimated cost for 1st ladies birthday flight.......$800,000.00..........I have a real problem with that....that is on our dime..............
And just because Bush did this or that.........doesn't make it right..........

Location: Bastrop, Texas | "Bait-and-switch" is a good way of describing this VonDigger. In terms of importance and priorities, this trip out to Hawaii falls way down the list, even if it is wrong or at least unsavory. Our government is fatally dysfunctional. It's not working the way it should. It's no longer "of the people, for the people, by the people. It is of the politicians, for the politicians, by the politicians. Those politicians all bamboozle us just enough to vote them into this priveleged class where the same rules that apply to us do not apply to them. They all return from break and these faux wars between parties commence.....with a wink and a nod. The citizens stand by and cheer on their favorite party/congressman/senator. We get whipped up into a frenzy and froth at the mouth.....then we vote for our favorite incumbent. How do we explain the fact that, in spite of an approval rating of 15%, over 90% of incumbents are re-elected? Can anyone explain this paradox? Congress has become an elite fraternity with the same goal....self preservation. They do battle by day, and dine by night, figuratively speaking. It's no different than the WWF where these wrestlers grapple in a fake wrestling match, and make a living out of fakery. Again, watch this video if you haven't yet. This guy sums it all up. He asks some probing questions.

OK....see, I've fallen into the trap! All kidding aside, I hope Michele gets on AF1 and keeps flying around the world for the next 1000 days or so! Maybe then we can focus on tyranny and a dysfunctional government.

Mrs. Bush went as the representative of the President and the USA in the HIV/Aid program and for the betterment of women and their education.....hardly a vacation. I do agree there a more important things to worry about however if how much this president and his wife spend on a vacation motivates someone to get off there rear and vote than let them B**** away. Dismissing them just because you and NJJ think it is moot I think is vary short sited. I do not care what motivates anyone as long as they vote. JB I'm not known as someone very likely to give Obozo a pass on anything, and I'm certainly not apathetic. All I was trying to say is even if this seems like something worthy of criticism, I just hope we can focus on the things that are of critical importance. There's plenty of that!

JB, you are correct. And I could not agree with you more. Your history is correct to boot! Laura Bush's trips to Africa were not personal vacations!

Location: Kansas | To deserve a vacation, especially a multi-million dollar one, you need to "earn" it. By my calculations I will lose my company medical insurance just about the time the Obama family is ready for their next Hawaiian vacation. I'm sure they'll feel quite guilty as they're frolicking on the beach.
Isn't this, by the way, the president who was going to be a better man and more fair than past presidents. Didn't he campaign on that?

Nice to see you Clay, but you completely miss my point. My reference to Laura Bush was facetious. I knew why she went to Africa, and it wasn't for a vacation. What is so hard to comprehend here? I too am miffed by the excesses, HOWEVER, by comparison, this misuse of taxpayer funds is nothing compared to the huge problems we are facing. If we want to get all up in arms over something, then I say we direct our vitriol toward any number of huge looming issues. To get mad, simply for the purpose of venting rage, is exactly what they want to see. Sure, go ahead and show your outrage, but then I say redirect your energy to things that matter most. This serves as a diversion away from things like ObamaCare. This administration is feeling the heat from all directions on ObamaCare....to funnel the focus away from the big issues is exactly what they want. This tactic is time honored from domestic quarrels to football, to the battlefield.

| Through out our history there have been adminitstrations that took liberty with vacations and personal expenses. Wouldn't it be refreshing to get someone in there who views the presidency not as a "privledge" but rather a "Duty." George Washington did not want to serve, later it was written that the best person to hold office is the reluctant person. The person who finds themselves there because it was the will of the people. You have to wonder about how hard and how long some of these men/women have held onto Senate/House seats. It will make a ordinary person into an instant millionaire.
We need serious term limit/reforms but it won't happen. Not in our lifetime.

I agree that nitpicking isn't working, but, nothing is...Idk what to think really. The elitist attitude is creating more distrust & resentment, hopefully across the aisle, but, these people don't care...they sold out long ago & are nothing more than puppets at this point (imo). I could be wrong, of course, however, I just cannot relate to them in any way! I've even considered that perhaps they're doing us a favor by giving us so much to think about...to dig for. People are actually reading the Constitution! Yeehaw! I never thought I'd see that. It's embarrassing to our Nation that they thumb their noses like they do at the tax payer. The rest of the world is watching & wondering what happened to our spine...the great American Principle. What we have in the White House truly does represent the majority at this point...and what we've forgotten is that the majority is not supposed to rule...we have 'individual inalienable rights'. But...only if we demand it one person at a time. There are consequences to everything...from them taking advantage of their position to us not doing anything about it.

Just to correct the record...YES, one of the trips was also a VACATION that she took her daughters on the very expensive safari (the same one that was canceled for Obama).....
I may be short sighted but I can tell you that the continual "short sided" rants about Obama and HIS spending does nothing more than P*FF off the "liberals" and shoots the Republicans in the foot AGAIN.......How well did that work for you in the last election? Instead of making "meaningless posts" about something that you can do NOTHING about, we should be bringing the important issues to the forefront and the discussing the candidates that need to be elected.....You just MIGHT "sway" a liberal or two to your side....and face it....We NEED the liberals to vote in a new CONGRESS ! ! ! ! Although I do understand exactly what you're saying I don't think it's ok to be 'bullied' into keeping quiet, fear is a great motivator...for most. If we're afraid to speak our mind because someone is small enough to vote out of spite then they get what they deserve, too. Jeez, none of us gave birth to those people! How weird are we that once we 'make up our minds' we become deaf & blind to the truth? Lol...the masses are small minded.
I sure don't want to p*ff off the libs! They're mean when they're p*ffed...they'll cut off their nose to spite their face. Honestly, I don't think too many ppl vote according to what one 'side' says about the other. At least not intelligent folks. And there is intelligence on both 'sides'..the problem is that too many think we can fix our problems with more rules & regulations. They're looking for 'Big Daddy' to get out the belt & beat us into submission...it's a wonderful excuse to avoid personal responsibility. "There outta be a law". Well, we have plenty to choose from now! I don't see thinking people as having a need to be 'babied' through the process, therefore, I don't believe I can 'sway' anyone with words.
