| If I were close enough, I would definitely attend your clinic. However, second best is to read your posts which I find very informative, positive and in easy to understand language. I think clinics put on by the people who have actually trained horses, and especially fixed lots of problems, are the clinics to attend over someone that is only a good jockey or cannot fix issues.

Why anyone would be ugly to you I have no idea. I for one am so excited to meet you in person and here what you have to say.
You have a gift-that is clearly evident. And people who have gifts do not need to prove themselves in a huge futurity world. You have clearly already proven yourself.
I already know 100% that bringing you to Texas was the right thing to do and we will all come away better horsepeople because of you. |

Location: ND | Andy I really don't think you need to explain yourself. You do not have to be a top futurity trainer or have a bunch of horses make the NFR to know what you are doing. Anyone with horse scence should be able to read the posts you make and KNOW without a doubt in their minds that you are a knowledgable and talented trainer. And not just that, you can communicate with people and take what you know and explain it so that it makes sense to anybody. I wish I had the ability you do, I can ride and train, but I have no ability to teach people. If TX was closer I'd have been the first person signed up for your clinic & I hope some day to be able to ride with you. |

Location: Over by those oil wells, TX | Andy, You should put together an online book with an index addressing and including all the different categories you've written about through the years and then as time goes on, include updates. I'd buy it! |

And you have the horses and student's to prove all this, and I dont see you as a know it all at all if thats what your trying to get at. But I see a great horseman that knows his job.. So there, thats my thoughts on you, oh and your a great and funny BB too, love hanging out with you on here. agree

| There are an awful lot of really, really good things we can learn from people without the big titles or names. Not everyone has the same goals or talents. An outside pair of eyes no matter how talented can often take a look and find something the most accomplished rider has missed, could change or even do a little differently.
We see so many people feeling they NEED to go to the huge names for clinics, help, etc and that is completley understandable. I mean they are big names for a reason. However not everyone is an EDUCATOR who can explain things in a way that make sense.
Most of us have a whole lot left to learn before its too the point that we NEED the top of the line talent to be able to add anything to our program.
I don't know the person who started this thread but I'm all for going to clinics or trainers where you are a big fish in their pond rather than a small fish in a big pond. In other words if trainers were rated one through ten I'd sure go to a 7 or 8 that was excited to have my horse/my horse was the best one in their barn/they ONLY had a few horses before I'd go to a 10 trainer with a barn full of super horses, a load of "assistants" where my horse was more likely to be lost in the shuffle.
I'm not bad mouthing the big timers, they make their living that way, they NEED to please the return customers who may have the means to bring a little higher talent to the barn. Just saying there is a lot of talent out there that maybe never wanted to go to the big runs or maybe they are better at the practice pen than the big races. Just some food for thought. |

However, I can say without a doubt, you honestly earned my respect a couple of weeks ago with the way you handled your self on the post about male barrel racers. You showed a lot of restraint and professionalism. You don't need to clarify yourself, just keep doing what you are doing. You have helped a lot of people! |

I've had a horse with a trainer before who knew what he was doing but for him to be able to explain why he did what he did and what the end result he was looking for was a total different matter. Trying to take a lesson with him while he had the horse was a complete waste of time.
One of my friends has a new arena going up. I think you need to come out to Montana and put on a clinic.

| CrossCreek - 2014-01-07 11:43 PM May I ask...just who is Andy Cowan? Never heard of him down here in East Texas, though I love his posts, and plan to attend his nearby upcoming clinic! Can ya'll tell me a little about him?
I know Andy answered this, and I just haven't had a lot of computer time this week. However, I'll tell you that he is someone I trusted enough to give a horse even after I had been burned by others.............for me that is huge. If I raise them, they are my responsibility. I knew that whatever path this filly chose, and she did have some choices to make, he would do right by her. Now, if all works out, I get to meet him and finally get her papers to him. I tend to procrasinate. |

I always go out of my way to read your posts and critiques, because they make sense and I always learn from them. I think I missed an ugly thread.....which is fortuitous, as far as I'm concerned. Just keep doing what you do.
