| I'm so tired of winter. I'm glad the south is getting it. We northerners just want to share the wealth. At least you will be back to warmth in a day or two. We still have a couple of months if this crap to tend with. Quit whining, go play in your dusting of snow and invite your cold northern friends for a visit!! |

No kidding! -35 (no windchill) today, so nasty. I'd take 0 degrees anyday now. |

Location: Carpenter, WY | winning edge - 2014-01-28 3:20 PM I had an appointment at 10 am today to drop off paperwork and do whatever people do when hired on at Home Depot. There was the "lightest" dusting of snow on the ground. So light it all blew off of my truck in the 10 minutes it took for me to drive to the store. And it was for naught... the HR person didn't come to work today. Granted she lives a hour away down I20 in Louisiana, but yeah... didn't come to work. Also failed to let anyone know she had an appointment scheduled with me or answer her cell phone when they tried to reach her to find out what they were supposed to do with me.
The LA/MS 2014 Snowmageddon is one for the record books.
PS School was closed today here in Vicksburg. I have a feeling they'll find a reason to close it tomorrow too due to windchill. LOL

ok, I'll admit I got kind of a kick out of this much snow in this picture shutting everying down

Location: n.c. | It's true. As my northern kin say: a dusting. It shuts everything down. Now when we get ice, plus 4 - 7" of snow? We are dead in the water til it thaws out. Which won't be until Friday at this point. Yes, I'm a wimp. |

Location: Lost in the swamps | I live in south louisiana and pretty much
It Is shut down, last time we seen significant
Amounts of anything such as ice or snow was
In early 1980's. We don't have equipment
Or supplies to keep the roads safe during freezing times.
I personally rather be off these roads and safe
In my house than have to drive in it and put myself and others
In danger who might be trying to assist those in need. And besides I don't want to be on the roads with some of those crazy fools!!
We have had a lot of power outages,
Store shelves are nearly empty due to supply trucks not able to
Get to us. Looks like the pandemonium we see before a hurricane! Lol
People freakin out down here for only two days of ice!! Lmao!!
I'm Planning on going sledding later today! At a Little hill close to my house. Something I haven't done since I was 4:) I don't like it but I'll enjoy it while it's here!:) |

Location: Deep South | Pretty much the entire state of Alabama is shut down. We were out in shorts and t-shirts just Monday!! Now all schools are closed, lots of roads, nearly all the businesses. Some parts of the state have gotten snow flurries, but we haven't seen any yet, just ice.
All the milk and bread in grocery stores are sold out, people filling up all their extra gas tanks at the gas stations, it's like they're preparing for a hurricane!
On a serious note though, while this may all seem so silly to those who see tons of snow and ice everyday, there have been several wrecks reported that I know of, one resulting in two deaths. The deep south just doesn't know how to handle winter conditions. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | We're dry here (I WANT SNOW so we can go sled on the levee!), but it was 6 icy degrees this morning. Sooooo over winter. It has literally been decades since it has been this cold. One of my barn kittens fell through some ice, I think, and almost froze to death yesterday. Luckily, I found him when I fed because his hair was frozen stiff, and he got to spend the night in the garage on a heated bed. Little fart was fine this morning, thankfully. |

A lot of those accidents would be prevented if you guys would slow down. You don't know how to drive it in and think its ok to drive like you do any other day. |

That's definitely a problem. Lots of people have 4x4 and think that's a license to drive normal. |

Location: n.c. | The humidity we have down here helps contribute to the overall problems. We don't just get a snow. We get plenty of ice along with it. And no, we don't know how to drive in the mess. Which is why I stay home. I'll take on a lot of things, but not ice. I'll lose everytime. |

Location: Arkansas | I have lived in Baton Rouge and people there have enough trouble driving when it rains. They DO NOT need to be on the roads in ice. Part of those roads are elevated so they will ice easily. I don't drive on ice here in Arkansas if I don't have to. We don't have the equipment to keep the roads clear around here. |
