| I can't imagine going through the amount of propane some of you do. My house is heated with propane, and we have a propane water heater. I have a 500 gallon tank and fill it twice a year.
Edit to add, my house was built in the 1800s and is 1.5 stories and a basement.

How in the world are we supposed to be able to afford this? - Is this just in my area of Kansas or everywhere? I'm seeing nothing about it on the news.
Who fills your tank? Call Wayman Bros. They were at $3.92 day before yesterday. Ferrellgas at $5.13. That's why we gave FG the boot.

I just paid 4.10/ gal here and I paidΒ $1.39 early last fall.Β Our guy said there was a 100 gal minimum and 200 gal maximum only.Β I got a 100 gal in hopes the price goes down. I think there was aΒ Canadian pipeline explosion and not to mention the major cold snaps.Β I still think it's highway robbery, but I doΒ kind of like heat.Β Edit to add SE Iowa
Ur right, there was a natural gas pipeline that exploded last friday it was 12 miles from my house. It was a 30" main line that blew, knocked out gas service here to 5000 homes, they just got service to the last of the homes on tuesday. I know there are 4 main lines there and 3 of them go down the the USA.

| My propane company will only sell you 250 gallons and it is $3.09 per gallon but if you pay within 10 days you get a discount of $0.10 per gallon. |

Location: Kansas | My brother & sister-in-law filled theirs a couple weeks ago and it was $2.20 but I've heard it has since jumped up over $4. My parents said we were at 25% in our tank last week but we're using space heaters and trying to keep the propane usage down in hopes that the prices will fall back down to a reasonable amount before we absolutely have to refill the tank. We're all very glad that Kyle & Rachel got theirs filled before the big price jump as money is pretty tight for them while they only have one full-time income and then whatever substitute teaching jobs he can get.
I was told Tuesday morning by a county commissioner whose son works at the CO-OP (propane supplier we use) that a couple of propane suppliers had gone under and that has created a near monopoly so of course prices have gone up. It stinks but I'd be raising the price too if I were a propane company right now. That's capitalism at work. I just wish they wouldn't hike it so much so fast. |

We just got 350 gallons not even a month ago putting us at 80% and are down to 50% already. I burn wood as much as I can but can't keep it going when I'm at work. I turned the house down to 60 when left this morning. |

| Contract in the summer if you can. That way you pay summer price all winter. No matter how high it goes we still only pay 1.84. |

Location: Kansas and loving it | I am in southwest Kansas and I just filled 302 gallons at 1.47. My modular home used to cost me that much. Until I got a metal roof, new windows, better doors, and really good siding. This is now only the second time I have filled up this winter.

I have Wayman too. I had Ferrel Gas for ONE year - HUGE ripoff. I don't really think it's going to matter who you have a whole lot though if the price to begin with is astronomical. |

I did this - pre-paid for $1000 worth - that is LONG gone with the temps we have been having though. |

Location: Armuchee, GA, NW section of Ga | I'm up in the NW. Section of Ga and heat my barn during the chilly weather. I have been getting propane for about $1.99, then the cold weather came. The local vender said price adjustment due to demand so price rose to $4.99. I filled my talks at tractor supply for $2.99 yesterday and there were many people standing in line to fill their portable tanks.

| There is a propane shortage. My dad has work in the propane world for years and years then started his own company which then he sold to the big name company. Word of advise stay with your local company and avoid the big name ones like amerigas and ferrellgas. They will continue to rip you off with fee after fee.
Paid 2.69 on tuesday up from 2.16 a month ago... Thank goodness we have an outdoor woodburner just keeep propane full for our generator in case we need it. |

And we have a 1,000 gallon tank. I pray that we won't need to fill it until prices go back to normal (just filled in November for $1.89). |
