It's been almost a year since I lost Jolene but I still find myself crying at small things -- be it a song, a dream or just a move that one of the other horses makes that reminds me of her. Losing one when they are young and you have so many hopes and dreams for them is hard. Take some time to grieve and remember. Be good to yourself this week. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my 5 year old gelding 2 years ago yesterday. Went out to go to my daughter's 6 month check up and he was dead. I still cry. You never fully get over it. Hugs to you.

Wish I could tell you that time heals all but it doesn't. I don't think you ever completely heal you just learn to live without and move forward. We lost our mare 5 years ago to a broken leg only to find out 5 days prior to her death she was breed back to my good horses daddy. So we not only lost a great barrel horse we lost her unborn baby and she left us with a 3 month old filly.
She has since grown to be a wonderful barrel horse herself but looks like a bigger version of her mom. Looking at her sometimes brings back that flood of sadness and tears.
I do promise you this ... Time will give you some comfort but your family friends and those of us who have loved and lost will all be here for you. Hang in there you have a bunch of barrel racers reaching out to you and sending hugs your way.

So very sorry for your loss...many prayers to you and your family.
I lost my 5 year old in July and I am still struggling. Losing my hope for the future was the hardest thing ever. My hubby was so concerned I would quit riding that he had me on her sister almost immediately. Wasnt fair to her but at first I couldnt help but compare everything she did to my Famous. We are still working at getting together...not a day goes by that I dont think of my girly girl. I wear a bracelet made with her tail every day.

Nothing prepares you for such a loss. It is a loss no one without a horse can understand. I lost my girl a year ago and I still cry every now and then, today in fact, and I still think of her every day. It will get easier to get through the day but you always feel the space that they filled and it feels empty. I look for her every day and I know she is taking care of me from horsey heaven. Love my Scooter girl!
