Location: GA | I've been wearing one for 5 years now, every ride. Every now & then I get a little conscious of it but no ones has ever been snide about it :) Its a Tipperary Sportage.
The only thing that happens to me is being mistaken for a kid LOL Happened at World actually, I kicked out my stirrup at second to pick my leg up over it ... announcer commented on "kids riding ability" LOL I was 34 at the time.

I'm old enough now, I have matured.lol. I dont have to impress anybody and nobody else lives my life for me or pays my bills. Who cares what anybody else thinks but actually, I see more and more of them at the races and it's good to see. It seems the higher IQ, older more professional ( in the work force ) are the biggest adult movement in wearing helmets. |

It's a trendy thing for the H/J folks

Location: North Dakota | I have a Tippery Sportage. Love the low profile.
I never get on a horse without my helmet.
I do find it sad that at most of the horse events I attend, I am often the only adult wearing a helmet. |

| I just went (this past Sunday) to the local Dover Saddlery store and got fitted for one. I ended up with one by Ovation. I knew I was hard to fit and gave the poor girl a run for her money. I would love a Charles Owen GR8 but can't afford to spend that much money right now so the Ovation was the next best fitting helmet for me.

| I bought a Tipperary Sportage in October. Its a great helmet, low profile and light weight. I had a few people ask my why I started wearing one all of sudden. I told them I wanted to be a great role model for my daugher. She is only 2 but is starting to show interest in horses and riding with me. Plus I dont bounce off the ground like I use to..... now its just a hard thud. |

Location: NE Texas | I wear the Charles Owen Pro II in the shiny silver. I figure if i'm going ot wear one, might as well stick out like a sore thumb. HAHA. It is a little heavy, but I have gotten used to it and don't mind it anymore. ONly thing I don't like is that in the summer it's dang hot under that thing and I keep it on the entire time I ride. I typically am riding colts, so I sweat like crazy under that thing! |

That's the one I have and I love how light weight and comfortable it is. I will actually forget I have it on.
The key is to have one that fits the shape of your head. Troxels are very uncomfortable for me. |

| I've been wearing one for over 17 years. I've had Troxels- Legacy Gold, IRH ATH (for hunter/jumper shows), and just recently bought an Ovation that is a knockoff of the Tipperary.
BTW- Troxel has some really cool new designs on their helmets. I've been eyeing one for Playdays and Barrel Races.

Location: Oklahoma | I've had 2 Troxels. I don't remember what the first one was. A plain schooling type I think. My husband just bought me a Troxel Rebel for Christmas. It has a cinch fit and seems lighter and more low profile than my last one. So far I like it better. |

I school in an Ovation and show in a Charles Owen AYR8. Love my helmets! I'd rather be alive and 'lame' than brain dead and 'cool'.
My hat is for halter and showmanship only.
I love my horse but I don't trust him not to be a d**k some days. |
