this is the stuff i had stumbled across http://www.kellyherdjewelry.com/default.asp

I don't really like "knock off" jewelry, but the stuff in that link is very pretty, and I wouldn't mind having CZ in it. I was thinking more along the lines of solitaire stones, but as an accent to a decorative piece, I think you'd be fine.

justcruzin - 2014-02-10 10:56 AM  Interesting... I wear a lot of jewelry, even around the horses, never lost a diamond. Heck I wash my horses with my Rolex on.   I'm not into fakes or knockoffs, I love a nice BIG diamond. Thats just me.

I swore I would never want to wear anything expensive around my horses or anything.  We have been married five years. The wedding set was somewhere around 3800 which for us is expensive.  I've never once worried about it since and never take it off :)  But we did pick out a low profile set so it never caught hung on stuff.

How do y'all "never take off" your rings?  If I sleep in my wedding band accidentally, my finger swells, which makes the ring feel stuck and I have a panic attack.  I've actually injured myself pulling a ring off in a blind panic in the middle of the night.

I dont' know, mine doesn't do that.  It was awkward at first when I started wearing it since I had never worn one, but now I can't stand not having it on.  Everybody is different though.  I know a lot of ppl that plain just can't wear them, or can't stand to have them on.

Yes those low profile are a must! Had a very big round solitaire, set high, didn't work. Got caught up in everything! Ended up getting a emerald cut with channel set side stones and it worked out nice.

I've had my ring on since 2006 and have never taken it off. The only time it's off is when I take it in to get cleaned. I wear it around the horses, showering, working in the yard, putting lotion on, everything. Mine just doesn't come off. I do have to watch it in the winter when my hands get cold because my rings get loose.

I don't get it either. I take mine off ALL the time. I used to wear it to bed, but my fingers swell too, and it's hard to get off in the mornings. I also take it off to wash my hands, because I can't stand my finger being wet under my ring, and my skin will get irritated if stays wet in that spot.
I also leave it in the house if I'm doing dirty work outside. I'm just more comfortable knowing it won't accidentally come off or get banged up.

With my first husband I had the big earings, ring, necklace the whole thing. And when I took them and hocked them after my divorce I only got about a quarter what he paid for them. And those big diamonds dang sure didn't help my marriage at all!!

Now with my second husband I don't own a single diamond. My ring is just a sterling silver band and I love it!! As far as I'm concerned I wouldn't care if I ever have another diamond. Like someone else said I would rather get a new prospect or pay something off!! I do like nice jewelry but as far as I'm concerned some bob berg or just something unique would b what I would love more!! That plus I really just think it the thought that counts more than anything else!!

I'd rather have another horse than real diamonds.... lol

I am not a jewelry person though.

Exactly.....I tell hubby, if I can't ride it, tow it, or drive it, you better not be spending a bunch of money on it.

I have a CZ solitare stone that I bought a nice gold chain to wear instead of the cheap one that came with it, probably total of about $150 spent on it. I get more compliments on it, and I've had it for over 15 years and it hasn't clouded at all. And, as other's have said, I don't have to worry constantly when I wear it.

I have CZs, or something of the nature, but honestly who is going to grab your hand and say "OMG thats not real!". Right now a big real diamond isn't in the budget, and I like flashy, blingy things so knock offs work fine.

I love my diamonds. I never take them off except when afraid to get them full of gunk like when painting, making burgers, etc. Or when working out with weights. Otherwise I sleep, shower, ride, etc. with them on. I have my wedding set and then I have a half eternity ring for my right hand middle finger (this years Vday present that I got early). I guess me personally I would rather receive real diamonds as a gift because they are something special. I have lots of CZs or other diamond looking crystals but it is the diamonds that I got from my husband that I absolutely love and never take off. They don't have to cost an arm and a leg. In fact my eternity ring cost around $250 after the discounts but the original price was around $400. I love that ring!! It is dainty but just gorgeous.

I think as long as it looks good who cares?  I have both and I love all of it, though I am not really a jewelry wearer.  My wedding ring is the only jewelry that I wear everyday but I am like so many others that I don't wear it constantly.  I have it insured so I don't worry about it when I ride but I rarely wear it at home.  As soon as I come in the door it comes off of my hand.  BTW, I have ugly "cowgirl" hands so I am not a big fan of rings because they usually look pitiful on my hands.  I always have such admiration for women with beautiful hands.  Mine are genetically ugly...thanks mom and grandma! lol  Oh well, there are worse things in the world!

thomas paine - 2014-02-10 9:17 AM figured i could get nary a straight answer on this one, but thought it would be interesting to see the different opinions. if you were going to receive jewelry from someone (not wedding stuff - everything else) what would be your thoughts on receiving a $150-200 necklace with CZs in it vs a $2k necklace with the real stuff? edited - or if its CZs, just rather it be something else....

I would personally not feel comfortable accepting a gift worth $2k from anyone, so I vote for CZ.

I would much rather have a CZ and have him surprise me with a new saddle that cost $2-3k than fancy jewelry. I don't see the point in expensive jewelry, really. Other than maybe turquoise. But I've also gotten nice replica turquoise for $40 or less.
