I'm not sure who I would want. Kristie Peterson might be cool. I like your suggestion of Kay Young too, but I'm not sure how known she still is. Inviting a young gun would be fun too, like a high school or jr high champ, something along those lines.
I was so excited to see Charmayne show she still has IT and what a nice horse Grasshopper is. I couldn't believe the clock when she finsihed... Grasshopper looked like he was loping, so deceptively smooth and fast. When she headed to the first barrel, I thought ..oh no he is not firing, boy was I wrong!
My thoughts exactly. I thought high loping to the first barrel is not going to get it. My next thought was WOW! |

Yes!!! I had chills. I ran into her in the bathroom at a restaurant after the rodeo and I couldn't help but gush about how nice Grasshopper was. I was like a jr high girl talking to Justin Beiber! She was really nice and she was really proud of him, she smiled so big when she talked about him. It made my weekend |

Location: somewhere in the middle | I agree that June should have an exemption until she can no longer compete, she was such a crowd favorite. As for another exemption I think it would be good for barrel racing to have a male!! Lance deserves to go for all of the work he has done promoting and barrel racing and getting men into rodeo. He's not only been a great competitor but a great ambassador for the sport and has a huge fan base. Talmadge would be another well known name and tough competitor. I think it would bring in a lot more barrel racing fans that are otherwise not well connected to rodeo. |

| I liked Charmayne being the exemption. Would be fine with her being it again. I would also like to see there like Martha Josey &Kristie Peterson. Might be fun to see a young gun or even a guy as the exemption. I definitely would like to Charmayne again.

Location: somewhere in the middle | And I have to say; Charmayne BLEW ME AWAY! I told my husband before it started that I thought the could have chosen better for the exemption. That it should be someone who was out there winning. That it should at least be someone who has a shot at placing, not just a recognizable name. Boy did I stick my foot in my mouth! |

I agree. When they introduced everyone at the beginning the crowd went nuts for June and Charmayne. They drew a huge part of the crowd IMO. I would think Kristi Peterson would be a good choice. It needs to be someone with a household name. |

I just don't understand the people with your frame of mind on the choice for the exemption. She's a household name, she's proven herself year after year. Not only a recognizable name that drew tons of people but she's also a hell of a hand. |

She's been out of the competition limelight for awhile, but wow...she really reminded us of how great a rider and trainer she is...It was inspiring!!! |

Plus I think the whole point of the exemption part is that they bring someone in. I agree Charmayne blew me away. Ote Berry in the steer wrestling was pretty cool too. |

Ote gave me goosebumps! What determination on his face! If that dang steer hadn't hung a leg he sure as heck could have been in the top 4. Dean Gorsuch even said - Ote was giving them all a lesson in how it needs to be done! I would love to see that man get the itch to compete again. |

Me too! You could tell he was a little disappointed at first but did you see how happy everyone was for him. That was just special. I haven't had so much fun watching a rodeo in a long time. |

She is such an inspiration to watch and follow. She may not need an exemption! That's one nice ride she has now !!!
She made it by going to a qualifier. |

| Troy Crumrine or Talmadge Green both are huge names in the barrel racing industry. Both still compete and have won just as much as the rodeo girls if not more. Barrel racing is not just a womens sport. These two guys can ride with the best and win. |

Didn't they both try to qualify this year? |

| I would like to see CJ again or Kristie Peterson but I would also like to see Sharon Camarillo. She was a big inspiration to me as a kid. I read her book and taught me a lot about starting colts. |
