Location: Alberta | I agree with joining Weight Watchers, their program sets you up for success and correct mind frame (if you chose) even after your not on the program.
My exercise suggestion is,....do you get a lunch break? However long it is take half of it and go for a walk....it's a start.
On your day(s) off, prep yourself meals OR PLAN what your eating the days to follow AND grocery shop for those items ONLY. It will make your week easier for having good food available.
Bottom line, making time for certain aspects is what needs to be done, your health is worth taking the time, good luck!

| If you are a person on the go, if you have one day off, I would suggest using part of this day to cook meals for the week.
Also look at the food guide and see what a serving size looks like, cooked vegetables is a size of a hockey puck, fruit size of a soft ball, or hockey puck, 2 1/2 oz is one serving of meat. Grains is a size of a hockey puck or one slice or bread, half a bagel is 2 servings.
Try cooking with coconut or olive oil, no more then a teaspoon.
Milk products try drinking skim milk, buy cheese/yogurt with the lowest fat content, but with yogurt try to stay away with any that have added sugar.
For work this is what I try to do, cook 2 different meat products, chicken, ribs then cook 2-3 different vegetables, I don't add butter to my veggies, and I will cook rice, couscous, etc. I try and make 14 different meals, and put them in the freezer.
I always keep some chicken frozen separately this way if I want something different then I will add chicken to a salad.
Also take sometime to make a grocery list, make sure you eat before you go to the grocery store as it has been proven that people buy empty calories (foods high in sugar) if they are shopping on an empty stomach.
Also keep to the outside of the grocery store, the processed food is in the middle.

Location: OH-IO | CYA Ranch - 2014-03-05 4:57 PM 30 minutes 3 days a week would be a great start. I have the time (usually) to do it 7 days a week and that's what I did while losing the weight. Now to maintain I do it at least 3 days but normally more. I refused to drive to town to work out and I refused to pay Weight Watchers or something like that mainly because I'm cheap but also because I totally remember the crap food I ate to put the weight on so if I cut out the same crap food it should come off. I always have a few Healthy Choice meals in the freezer in case I need something quick or to take to work with me. They have very few calories and are a complete meal. Have hard boiled eggs in the fridge at all times for quick snacks. Lots of salads but watch the dressing. I also found a whole grain bread that each slice is only 40 calories so I pair that up with some grilled chicken or turkey slices and I've got a sandwich.
Thats totally me! I am too cheap to pay $400-500/Month for food then have to shop for the rest of the family. I got a new exercise bike last night, so Im going to try 30-40 minutes per day! Thanks!

I lost 30 pounds a year ago by eating right.Β I didn't cheat one bit and I rode an exercise bike 10 miles a day.Β It can be done and it can stay off.Β You need to change your eating habits or you'll always gain it back.Β There's really no trick to it.Β I changed my mind set to - this isn't rocket science.Β I know what foods aren't healthy so I'm cutting them out.Β I have tons more energy and ride better.Β Plus I look haawwwwt! Β
Like CYA said ... change your eating habits, this is a lifestyle change not a "diet" gimmick thing. In order to KEEP weight off, clean up your eating habits and kitchen habits. My personal trainer who has trained me to run a full marathon loves to preach that exercise will help you lose the weight but what you do in the kitchen is what keeps it off!
You CAN do it!! I love going to theberry.com - they have GREAT daily motivation items geared for women who are looking for the lifestyle and exercise change. It's a great lil community and often has healthy meal ideas too!
Determination is gonna get you through!! You got this!

Eat on a smaller plate. Don't buy junk at the store. Take your lunch. Try to eat only fresh veggies and fruit. For lunch do the tuna in a pack, with veggies. Google healthy snacks. Drink lots of water.
You can do this, good luck and take small steps to change your eating habits. It will be a slower process then pills, but it will be a lasting one. I read this too quickly and read "taking a poop is a start"...And I was like hey, well that's pretty good advice! LOL
Hahahah Ill start there.....sounds like the easiest thing on the list!

Beef isn't bad for you - it is how you prepare the beef that can make it unhealthy. Google recipes and plan ahead - shopping the "outside" of the store is a great way to keep refined products out of your life too!
You can do it!! | |

| The easiest way for me to lose weight is to eat 4 ounces of lean protein(from meat) at every meal. Breakfast-tenderloin, lunch-chicken or fish, supper-steak. 4 ounces of lean meat is VERY filling and doesn't leave room for much junk in your meals. I have to stay under about 1600 calories and under 100 carbs to lose weight. The other most important thing for me to lose weight is to stay BUSY outside! Its amazing how many calories per day you burn from just doing normal farm/horse chores! I have a Polar heart rate monitor and its amazing how many calories I burn on days I'm working outside. Plus, if you are working outside you are too busy and too far away from the house to grab snack every little bit. | |

| Instead of buying an exercise bike I have an indoor trainer for my outdoor bike. Then I can ride the bike outside too. Also, if you can get outdoors or have a treadmill the Couch to 5k app is amazing. Did it several years ago and have fallen in love with running and fitness. And this is from a gal who couldn't jog a half mile without keeling over. Good luck! | |

| Good advice so far! Another helpful trick, is after doing all of that healthy grocery shopping, put the fruit that can be left out (oranges, bananas, apples, etc) in a fruit bowl on the table where it is in plain sight. You'd be surprised how more apt you'll be at grabbing a healthy snack just because it's more convenient. Also, I keep water in front of myself all the time; at my desk, in the car, everywhere. Sometimes, I think I'm hungry when actually I'm just thirsty. A previous poster mentioned hot water with lemon, that's a great thing to do before bed. I will do that or some chammomile tea with lemon. My SO is a physician's assistant and a registered dietitian, and his advice to every one of his patients trying to lose weight is "Keep it simple. The closer the food looks to it's natural state, the better it is for you." Eat breakfast everyday, cut portion size (using smaller dishware helps), eat a lot of fiber rich foods like apples, green beans, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, berries, etc. Good job on cutting out the soda | |

Location: OH-IO | I LOVE lemons! (I used to put a lemon in my pop, but now that I am soda free i put it in my water and tea)
I love to work outside, plus we just bought a new place and we are getting ready to build the new pony barn and put up acres of pasture so that will be nice (its like free exercise i suppose)
I got a regular ride bike for christmas, it was kind of cheap, and it killed my butt! I even tried sitting on a pillow, so I borrow my mother in laws exercise bike, its like a bike/glider. It was a little more expensive (like $200) but well worth it. The seat is great and the way it is put together it doesnt hurt my knees or back and it works out my arms too. (8 minutes last night and I was toasted!)
It is this one if anyone wants to check it out.

I have terrible knees, so a normal treadmill kills me. This really doesnt seem to bother me.
