She is lame and has been since I rescued her.. she has always had the windpuff and I have got it to go down alot to where she was fine but now she has re injured it... vet says no exercise and stall rest and we will talk again in a month and see how she is.. and possibly do some cortisone shots.. My understanding is there is localized swelling in her leg, that is causing strain on the tendon. There are drugs that can be injected into the area to reduce the swelling immediately. There are too many structures in the leg, did the vet do an ultrasound? I would take the horse to another vet and get another opinion

I Really Love Jeans Posts: 3173 Location: North Dakota	I understand your problem. My mare is a nightmare if she is put in a stall for more than a few hours. like the other person said a slow hay feeder will keep your horse busy, hopefully!

No ultrasound but he spent a lot of time with her and he has seen her before for something similar... I trust my vets conclusion and I am going to be doing cortisone shots once I get paid ... I just cant afford this all at once ... Cortisone can cause joint deterioration and it does not promote healing, it does reduce the inflammation but suppresses the immune system to prevent healing.
