| Do you recommend continued maintenance after the initial treatment?
Ps. Sorry to just jump in on this, had a couple bad rides on a seasoned mare, and am exploring the possibility of ulcers before calling the vet... |

Yes I suggest a maintenance program after treating for ulcers; however, not all horses need a maintenance program. Each horse owner knows their horse better than any one so it is best left up to the horse owner. Some horses are just prone to ulcers.
A maintenance program after treating for ulcers helps the horse get a good start on a healthy stomach! |

| They will be cinchy, usually eat their hay first, hard keeper, attitude changes. Performance changes. This is just a few.

| I second the Gastroplus but I don't pay $165 for 2 weeks... I pay less than that... Get a hold of Krystal, it's soooo worth it. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Yep, GastroPLUS is amazing. I can hook you up and I have shipped to Canada very successfully. I usually use a padded flat rate envelope for around $20 to Canada. |

You do your own research and feel good about the success! |

Location: Foot of the Smoky Mtns, East Tennessee | My horse is Cinchy, Grumpy, not running like I know he can, dips his hay in water, laying down more and when the weather changed this past week he went off his feed and has stopped drinking water like he was (full bucket at night to almost none at all). Called the vet out thinking he might have an impaction and that's what we treated him for but she asked if he could have ulcers. She gave me enough GastroGard for 12 days to see if it helped. This was just on Friday but he's acting better but still isn't drinking like he was. I figure I'm dealing with Ulcers now. Should the 12 days of GastroGard "treat" them and then I just try to maintain them or should I get some more and treat for a whole month? |

Location: Foot of the Smoky Mtns, East Tennessee | Ok. So I should get more of the GastroGard (Omeprazole paste) and treat for a full month, then do daily maintenance on him to control them. Thank you all so much for your help!

Location: Piedmont, OK | Once you treat them for Ulcers I would use something like In the Zone paste (by Animal Element) to assist in keeping them calm and relaxed when hauling. It's a great electrolyte that keeps them eating and drinking plus it has some raspberry leaf to keep them relaxed. In the Zone helps them focus and does not take any run out of them. |

Ulcer cure OTC is what I use, I have had good results with if. Douglas Gordan sells it on BHW and I believe he is still a paid advertiser.
I suspected ulcers with my daughter's horse. Started him on Ulcer Cure about 2 weeks ago. What a nice difference it made in his performances this weekend. Wish I would of done it sooner. |

Location: Sunny So Cal | GastroPLUS! Love this product! Works wonders and affordable. I always use it for 60 days on any new horse I get then put it on the maintenance dose that THE offers. Most horses have ulcers and doing 2 weeks of any treatement is not enough. |
