Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness | Micah and Wade are great people who put immense time and effort into their horses. I cannot imagine the hurt and loss they are feeling right now. This is not about money or financial gain for them, I know the two of them well enough to know that they are shattered by this. My heartfelt prayers go out to my two friends during such a devastating time. |

Were none of the horses nor the barn insured? I can't imagine having horses of this caliber and not having them insured to protect your losses. And the same with the barn. While it is nice of everyone to offer a hand when in need, I have an issue with giving people money when they could have protected themselves with an insurance policy. Insurance does cost money, but there seemed to be no shortage of money when it came time for them to purchase all of these horses. If they were insured, what does this money go towards? I know I will get a lot of kick back for posting this, but it's something that I feel needs to be said.
Not appropriate....not the time or the place. Again many prayers for this family..... |

Sending a memorial donation to a designated charity when someone passes is totally different than opening the check book to pay for things that should be repaid by insurance. I never said anyone should not donate. I just think that people need to know what the money will be used for. They still have other horses and their home.....
I must be weird because I'm actually okay with not having to know something like this when I help somebody out. If it's really a gift, it's given without strings attached and in good faith that it will be handled with care. I'm good with letting that person be accountable to God for their actions and how they treated the gift. After all, isn't that the same for the gifts He gives us? |

Location: Louisiana | I have set up a PayPal account for donations to their barn fund. All donations will go directly to Micah & Wade. Please PM me for the PayPal email account address, as I don't want to post it and have it picked up by a spammer or scam artist. Thanks. |

| I don't understand how some people can be so judgemental. It's as if they've never suffered any kind of loss before. Then try multiplying that feeling by a hundred not because it's just an investment, but because it was your friends that BURNED to death. Oh my god. People get real!
What has happened is terrible. The guilt, anguish, and sadness Wade and Micah must be feeling must just be devastating. The financial strain is probably catastrophic for them.
I have already contacted Micah via Facebook and offered him what I can in the way of help and empathy. If you're not in a position or mind set to help in any way, please at least have the class to offer some sympathy and kind thoughts and refrain from tearing down on fellow sportsmen that have a very deep love and respect for their animals.

Location: Crowder, OK | First of all, this has to be one of any horse owners worst nightmares!!!!!!! I know we have all had to have thought about it from one time or another, look at all the lightning storms and stuff....who knows how or what happened, but it did and its just horrible!!!!!!! I feel so sorry for them....
as far as insurance is concerned,,,,I just lost a horse and I will be the first one to tell you that I would take my horse back over the money in a freaking heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would gladly make that trade!!!!!!! dealing w/the insurance companies after a loss isnt fun either, and just adds to the pain your alread suffering, so I dont care if those horses were insured or not, my heart hurts for the owners....the money im sure will be nice to get back if they were but like I said, its nothing like the loss they experienced! |

Even in a total loss house fire people take up donations. They lost everything bin that barn. Halters, feed, hay, blankets, take, buckets. Everything. Could YOU imagine loosing that and looking at the rest of your horses and go its ok they were insured you will just have to wait for the check.... It takes gobbs of money to recover. They work a normal paying jobs. Wade is a horse shoer and I am not sure about Micah. Can YOU imagine having to replace all of that? Insurance wont cover it all. And even if it does by the time the check gets there they will have had to already buy stuff. I dont care if they get $20,000 in donations I know them and they will put it into a better barn or try to replace their stock. I know people are crazy and they use peoples sympathies but these gentlemen havent asked for a dime. They are just trying to recover. These people a ate up horse people they will use every bit of it for their horses. I am very saddened that someone would even question why there is even a need for donations for this. |

You're right. They do still have other horses. And that is exactly why they need to rebuild their barn ASAP. Since you don't know them or the details of all this, perhaps you should refrain from your negative comments at this horrible time for them. I assure you that any money taken in will go toward the rebuilding of their barn. But if you choose to think it will go to a party fund or something frivilous, that's your loss.  Kind hearted people want to help in a situation like this, and helping them rebuild is the best way to do it at this time. No one is asking you to make a donation, and after reading your comments, we certainly don't expect you to.Â
o2barrelracer.. what you said was completely uncalled for and out of line. You have no idea who these people are and what really happen or the horses that were involved. From someone that knows them very well, I can assure you that they will not take the money and party or go buy something they don't need simply cuz they have donation money. Jan is correct, they don't need money from someone like you are any others that feel the same as you do.. You had no right to even speak the way you do.. I hope and pray that you NEVER have to go through something like this in your life, and for a complete stranger to get on a public board and bash you for no reason.. when you typed im sure im going to get a kick back from this post.. then maybe I that should have been your first clue not to say anything.. Time and time again ive seen on this board give money to other in time of need and not once have I seen anyone as mean as you to simply make a statement the way you did.. We are BARREL RACERS.. we stick together as a family.. They day of the fire hundreds were there bringing hay and supplies and both of them were in tears just from the people in the local area stepping up to the right thing.. never did anything like you said crossed any of there minds.. im sorry you feel this way and if any others do feel this way... but those that do please give what you can nothing is to small.. thanks jan for doing what you have.. and those that have give, thank you and god bless...
