| I have a one I love...he does have a quirk, as soon as I get him somewhere I have to saddle up and ride him around even if its for 10 minutes and he's fine the rest of the day...don't ride him around and he sets back at the trailer. He loves to work the cows and check fence too and is not spooky at all.

This sums up my experience with my beduino bred colt....he is a smart smart horse, very curious and willing...he was an EVIL colt bit,kick run away, but has turned around alot  .....as my chiropractor said, they aren't horses for just anyone and if you find one and make it work you'll have a heck of a horse.....

I firmly believe that peoples opinions of Chick Beduino horses are in direct relation to the heaviness of their hands! Just because you can ride a horse doesn't mean you are a horseman/woman.
I 150% agree! And also YOUR temperament.
For example: my CB, I LOVE! But I'm also very laid back and easy going for the most part. When he gets scared, I just tell him to get over it and carry on. When he maybe sets back being tied - I ignore him. When he's being just goofy I laugh at him, and move on. I grew up riding equitation hunters and so I am VERY conscious of my hands.
My husband: can barely do anything with the gelding because they have the EXACT SAME PERSONALITIES. Both are very reactive and don't always think their next move through. My husband is very intelligent and horse-savvy (he played polo professionally in CA before he moved to Oregon), but when a horse spooks or does something silly my husband tends to blow it out of proportion which then makes the horse just carry on. My husband has never been allowed on my CB gelding because he has polo hands - and my gelding would spontaneously combust.
I love the CB horses, but I feel like sometimes they "insult" people and then those people end up blaming the horse instead of looking at maybe clashing personalities or mismatched styles. |

OK this is coming from a guy that is not a horseman. Some times these kinds of horses are to smart for their own good and people just can't figure them out.
Beduino, Chicks Beduino. In our area there was a TB stallion name Current Concept and his babies had issues but they could run.
Sometimes the horses are smarter than the people.
I totally agree - and it seems like the SCARY SMART horses are often the ones that get called dumb sonsabetches the most often. Lol
If my gelding was a person: he would be Sheldon from Big Bang Theory - picture THAT Alicat! Lol |

He's literally JUST. LIKE. SHELDON. A 16.3 hand, brand new penny red Sheldon. I really wish he could talk - I'd love to know what actually goes on in his head. Maybe I should have a psychic come talk to him.... |

| I had an own son of CB. Bought him off the track. He could FLY. And TURN. Not an ounce of hot or mean in him. He was super tough minded though. Very stoic about pain, not opportunistic with kids, good solid rodeo horse. 16h, gray, looked like CB reincarnate. Out of anEasy Jet/FanDancer mare. Once in a lifetime kind of horse for me. I personally don't get the bad rap. But then, I'm a quiet rider and not heavy handed or prone to picking. |

| My avatar is my stud colt (2yrs) that is a grand son of CB on the dams side. SR Check Ta Fame he is calm, quiet and completely mild, easy to handle, fast learner. But dont pick.
My gelding I run is a GS of Beduino on the dams side, and is quirky, but fast.. you tolerate some things just because of what he can do... and I like the quirks... adds character and makes me laugh. |

I'm in 100% agreement with this statement. Mine was a son of CB out of a Alamitos Bar mare. Ran at the track and set a track record at the time, claimed, went to Marion Gramath, then to Kay Blandford...probably one of the best horses I've owned and would give anything to own another just like him!

Location: Bessmer City NC | I LOVE MINE! he a grandson of cb & out of panchos tune... super laid back... never ran on the track that im aware of.. very soft and supple just got back from a 2.5 day josey clinic and boy was he sore and he let gary know he was super sore... kicking biting it was terrible... he will sit back at the trailer if i tie him and saddle and dont walk him off once you ride or walk him off hes fine... hes also funny about his splint boots... wants them on as little as possible. he does have his quirks... BUT I LOVE HIM! |

Rossie is only 7 but I wouldn't say she's hot or quirky. She ran on the track a couple times but got hurt and wound up with Becky as a barrel prospect. Last spring she ran in the 2D all three days of the state NBHA show and has potential to be a 1D horse. Heck she ran at a rodeo or two last year and handled that atmosphere. I can't think of anything BAD about this mare other than she's legitimately 16.1 which means you need mountain climbing gear, a trampoline or a ladder to get on! |

| I had a grandson who was very stubborn. If it weren't for his barrel pattern, he would have been the best horse I've ever owned. He was a complete sweetheart calm as could be on the ground- he was seriously awesome. I mean you could do anything with him. There was not one thing that I didn't love about that horse until I was on his back lol. I think someone seriously messed him up before I got him. He would decide he didn't want to go in the arena or wouldn't turn the first the first barrel. He wasn't dangerous about it- just stood there and you could not get that jerk to move no matter what you did. It stunk because he was probably the most athletically talented and fast horses I'll ever get to ride. That horse could lay down a pattern like the best of them when he wanted to. It was definitely a mental problem as we spent a lot of money trying to figure out any physical issues and there were none. And the guy I sold him to has never even had the horse hesitate at the first and is having trouble with the second after he slipped once at home. From what I've heard from other people who've owned Chicks Beduino horses is that if they are started right and end up with the right riders, they can be the best horses you've ever owned but if they've had bad experiences, they don't tend to forget or get over them easily if at all |

He has a long way to go with his training but I'm very excited to see what he makes. He has a quirk...he's scared of shadows. I mean clear the area come out of his skin trembling terrified of shadows. I just keep telling him he's going to survive. It's all in his head lol this is great thread. I'm really enjoying it!! My guy goes back to Beduino twice, once through cb. |

Location: Buffalo, TX | I had a grandaughter...very fast and athletic with a very long stride and a lot of grit....smart and eager to work.....I only sold her because she did need a lot of riding to keep her from being too fresh and I had 3 to ride, and there was no way I was selling my Desinger Red or my team penning horse, so she needed the most time, and I just didn't have that kind of time to devote anymore...
Here's a video of Chip running her for me in the dead of winter...there was an ice storm later that day and my trailer looked like the frozen tundra when I got home....she ran in a simple snaffle and no tie down, and was easy that way...
