| I gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. And will the state finals give out points in addition to the 14 shows to go towards the year end then? |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | With NBHA you don't have to be a member to run. Some charge a non member fee. If your looking to qualify for the big prizes then being a member could be promising. Seems barrel racing is a big secret in Michigan. I would go with who ever is close |

| I don't think you need to be a member to run in any IBRA shows either. Nobody knows if finals points count towards year end or not? I'm assuming they do.
I also was thinking the way the divisions work depending on the day and competitors, even if you run exactly the same time....one show you may be in 1D but the next you could be in 2D...therefore getting points in two different divisions for year end. This seems frustrating to me. |

One of my geldings was a consistent top 3d horse and we brought home more paychecks with the NBHA shows because most did 1 second division/time splits. The IBRA in our area only run 1/2 second time splits and we would get buried in the 5d! A friend also had a top 2d horse who was running 4d times with the IBRA. Needless to say we both felt like losers that day lol We did really enjoy the people and atmosphere though! |

Yes, state show points count towards year end points
Also, I forgot to mention, the top (5 i think) in each division going in to nationals (at the end of the season) are the "Top Dogs" for those divisions, and they automatically will make the short go at nationals. |

Our local shows run one second splits for payout (3D), but they follow a 4D format for IBRA points. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | What would be wrong with getting points in 2 divisions? My daughter had points in the youth in 2 divisions and points in the open in 2 division at the end of the year she made out like a bandit. She brought all kinds of goodies, halters blankets, jackets splint boots and a bit of cash. Just be sure you make it to the top in those divisions. Join one and run at both. |

| Why would you indicate Michigan is secretive on barrel races? Ran and lived there for years, no mystery as long as you can read showbills and have friends to keep you informed. |

I agree. Nothing is a secret in Michigan about shows......everything is on facebook too! LOL I just posted yesterday about trying to find a show on Sunday and had 5 plus shows shown to me! Lots to do! |
