| I agree with trying Aveda products as well. If I remember correctly you can get them cheaper from the Aveda school in Minneapolis, but I don't get to the cities often so I buy it at a salon. My cousin works for/went to Aveda and if you can find someone who works there you can get great discounts. |

Location: Minnesota | Thank you everyone for the help. I just got back from the salon in town and they had Nioxin there. I'm going to give that a try as someone suggested. They didn't have any Aveda stuff or I would of tried that.

| I had a baby 5 months ago and about a month ago I started losing my hair..in chunks. I now have bald spots at my temples and on the side of my head. It is so depressing!! It didn't happen with #1 but I lost a lot of blood with #2 and my iron was still really really low at my 6 week check up and I read low iron, and hormone changes will make your hair fall out. I bought some Nioxin...have been using it for a week and it makes my head itch..so beware of that.I am also taking extra biotin and iron along with my prenatals. I may try the Aveda. Hugs to you...I know how it feels..I am living it with you.
Edited to add: I also cut my hair off..not short short but above my shoulders. Which was depressing too because it had taken me 2 years to grow it out!

I love Nioxin & it makes my scalp feel so clean. I hadn't thought about thyroid but you should probably get that checked too. |

She has made a great point. Cut your hair short...length pulls on the folicles. |

Hugs to you as well! Losing our hair is so depressing. Its emotional, I know its just hair but people notice people's hair. I've been on prenatals about a week. I'm hoping that helps. |

It depends on what tests the doctor ordered. It may or may not have been included. You could call the office and ask for them to check for you.
I would ask your OB-GYN to test your hormones too, especially if you are having any other issues that may indicate a problem with your hormones. |

| Nioxin REALLY helped mine, that and I use a spray on conditioner called "10" - great stuff and I take Biotin - just a cheap vitamin that I can get at Wal-mart - now my hair and nails grow like crazy - this year was the first time ever in my LIFE that I had to CLIP my nails - before they always chipped and broke off. The only bad thing is my toenails grow like CLAWS - LOL! |

At the salon I went to they has a Nioxin kit. It had the shampoo, conditioner and a leave in scalp treatment. I'm going to give that a try. I might go to Wal-Mart and get some Biotin too.
You all have been so much help! |

It has helped me. And I hope this makes you feel better....at least you didn't lose it all to chemo. I hope you find a remedy soon. |

I think about you often SHR! Your a very strong woman. You so right, I need to think positive. I was going to just shave it and wear a wig but I think before I go crazy and shave it I should try all option. When the took my blood they said everything came back in the normal range but my Vitamin D. I have horrible chest pains and have since I was 12. I had my gallbladder removed at age 19 but the pain is still there. I wouldn't think that pain would cause my hair loss but I will go back to the doctor and get it checked out.
Hugs to you! |

No perms, ever. I do color my hair but its to cover the gray hairs LOL.
I take a prenatal vitamin so I'm hoping that helps. I just started it about a week ago so it would be too soon to know if its helping. I'm going to try the Nioxin treatment that a BB suggested and get some Biotin as well. |

HUGS!!! It is SUPER stressful when you are loosing your hair and there aren't any answers yet. And then it ADDS even more stress! ACK!!
It literally took about 2 months on pre-natals, cleaning up my diet, and removing a little of my stress for me to see my hair start to come back. It was 6 months before I chopped my hair to remove the old scraggly stuff and it is SUPER short now but is super healthy, shiny, and THICK again!!
I forgot to add earlier that I started using the Aveda Invati hair system when I changed all the above. It is worth every penny. I'm not paid by them or anyone to promote their products, but that stuff WORKS.
My roommate in college tried Nioxin - be careful, if you use it for a couple months and stop, your hair may break off where the "new growth" begins. For whatever reason, hers did break off when she stopped using it.
Hope this all helps you somewhat and feel free to vent whenever you need to! |

At least you are working on trying to get your hair back to normal, When I was pregant I took the prenatal vits and it made my hair grow like crazy, I used to have waist lenght hair when I had my first boy. Wore it long untill I hit my mid 30's then got to be to much work. And Biotin is really good, if you have a Health Food store go by there and get fresh vits, the fresher the better. |

I get regular trims about every 2 months just to keep the hair I have as healthy as possible. I just got it trimmed yesterday and thats when I looked for the Nioxtin or Aveda products. I'm glad you mentioned about the hair breakage if I did stop using the product. I'm going to look into that.
