It was pretty nasty out by us for quite a while. Between the dirt causing no visibility and the wind blowing the clouds so fast, it was definitely erie! Praying for everyone still in the path of these storms and everyone that has been affected!!!

I think people were driving by it oblivious because they don't take the time to educate themselves about tornadoes, and without education, many people can't tell the difference between a mile wide F3 tornado and a bunch of clouds......

CurlyQ - 2014-04-28 8:49 AM I read that there were no warnings or sirens. Horrific devastation
The ones in AR should have had warnings.  I was watching continuous coverage on the local news (also broadcasted to fm radio) and they and the NWS were on top of things.   While watching a storm chaser dash cam tho, the chaser stopped before the spot where the tornado crossed I40, and people were steadily driving by him right towards it, completely oblivious.

Glad YOU are ok, T4L.....had you on my mind this AM when I saw the news.  Scary stuff!

Thanks.  The bad stuff was 100 miles north of us, but my sister lives about 2 miles from Mayflower, so we were freaking out there for a little bit.

Yikes!!!!  That is TOOOOOO close for comfort.  I have a couple of friends that live up toward Vilonia and i'm praying they're ok.  I've tried to check in, but haven't heard back yet.  This weather is so scary.  Hubby and the dogs and I spent about an hour in the closet a couple weeks ago.  Glad your sister is ok!!!!!!!!

Yes, she's fine, just shaken from the close call, and some of her friends lost everything but their lives.

I wrote a note on her FB but haven't heard anything.  The news isn't saying much about that area, but it's possible they have no electricity.

I sent a message to one of my friends who are best friends with Norma to see if they had heard from her.  They would have her phone number to check and see if they are OK.

I just talked to the guys at Calico in Quitman, AR......we get trailers from them, and a friend of theirs in Vilonia who lost her home in the 2011 tornado had a safe room built in her new home and this tornado hit her house again yesterday and ripped the door off the safe room and killed her......they said the safe room was built to standards that should withstand an F5.....that is very scary for tose who have safe rooms and depend on them...

Oh my goodness....prayers for everyone impacted. Some of ya'll may know this but the weather channel will post up to the second updates on their twitter feed when tornadoes are on the ground. They post much quicker on twitter than they do on TV. And they give specific locations ,etc way before it makes it to the news.
