hoofs_in_motion - 2014-05-02 8:38 AM I wish I had access to triple crown because I would feed that. But I feed safechoice perform. I love it and so do the horses

This is me. I feed one Purina Ultium and really like it. Now all the others get Safechoice Perform.

After feeding Purina feeds for the past 14 years I recently switched to Bluebonnet Total Advantage. My horses are doing great! I can really tell a difference in them and it is all for the better. I did not have a problem with Purina. Two of my friends had switched to Bluebonnet and their horses looked and felt great so I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did!!

That is the only thing Purina offers that I would even consider feeding. And Nutrena has improved a lot the past few years. I like the looks of their ProForce lines. Just stinks they're only available in certain states.

PoliceWife2014 - 2014-05-01 10:52 PM My last post was about find I moldy feed in the bottom of my bag of Purina omolene 200. I now want to switch after research of people finding the same in different bags from Purina. Since this bag my mare has been wheezing the part few days and gets out of breath easy. What do you feed your horse? I've heard of F1 formula and heard a lot of good things about it Triple crown feed Platinum performance feed What are other out there you suggest?

I feed rolled oats/beet pulp with OmegaHorse Shine and alfalfa cubes.

My horses look better and feel better than they every have - I have fed Strategy, Total Equine, Triple Crown, Safechoice - I am finally satisfied.

CYA Ranch - 2014-05-02 8:52 AM I have a bunch of 500 to feed up but I should get some from Dave to see how Crack does on it before I do a pallet.  If I had someone close to share with would be ideal since I'd probably only feed it to one horse.  I think I'll give them a call to see what freight would be.  Thanks ladies!

It keeps for a long time if you've got a cool, dry place to keep it.  I buy a pallet every March, and it lasts me an entire year.  (I only feed it to 2-3 horses because I feed other things including ADM & a custom mix to our others). I store it in our machine shed on the pallet.  I've never had it go bad.

I feed Triple Crown Complete

I also fed Purina Ultium in the past, but I like the TC better. Both are good feeds though.

I wish that was sold closer to me.  Its a pain to drive over 100 miles to buy it.

Ya, it's a pain for me too. It's 100 miles for me also and the place isn't open on weekends but my horses look great so I make a point to get it.

That doesn't sound too bad then.  I have plenty of places to store it in the machine sheds too.  When my 500 stash gets down there a little I'll have to talk to them about getting a pallet.

Do  you know what freight company brings your feed?  We use a few different ones for our business and thought I could have some thrown on one of our trucks.

I can't remember the name but its a pretty common one you've probably used before, with your business I'd bet.  Although I can't remember the name, the same company that brings our feed from up there also brought us a big DeWalt pressure washer last fall that Brett had ordered online from somewhere LOL.

LOL....Hey I can get a pressure washer and feed all in one load!  Rude comes through quite a bit.  Next time they stop I'll ask what they'd need to throw a pallet on just to compare it to the quote I get from Woody's.

Just a thought- you may be holding Purina responsible for a problem that is created by your local feed dealer. Holding textured feed too long in a hot warehouse (over ordering) is probably to blame.
I feed Purina Healthy Edge. Never a problem.

CYA Ranch - 2014-05-02 6:56 AM I use Purina Omolene 500 on one and Nutrena Safechoice Sr on the other horse I'm running.  I buy oats in bulk for the rest of my horses.  Someone on your last thread told you Purina was crap.  I don't agree.  My mare looks great and feels great.

Hmmm, I wonder if they go thru Pierre when they deliver yours.  I'll have to try to remember this next March.  Maybe it would cheapen freight if we ordered at the same time.

I switched to Bluebonnet Intensify!!!! I was feeding Woodys Summer Heat. My horses Feel and Look so MUCH better!!! Their attitude is also great!!! They were a little on the Hot side when on the Summer Heat and would buck and be naughty. NOw we have none of that. wish I would have taken a before and After. I also top dress with the Animal Element Detox. they say I wouldnt need to but it has the MSM and Glucosimine in it. A GREAT Combination!!!!

Purina Ultium. I love that it has a high fat content in it and I only have to feed a couple pounds a day and my horses look great (limited hay as well, not free choice.)
Doesn't make them hot or crazy, and I've never had an issue with it (mold, etc). I bet your feed dealer may be storing it too long in the warehouse---because we all know they are not air conditioned to keep it below 85 degrees!
