Well i like it. I will be brining this colt home on saturday http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/harts+spitfirenpride he is not bred to be a barrel horse but he has several succesful half siblings winning in barrels, and he also has a full sister who is winning in barrels...so clearly they like barrels even though there not bred to be barrel horses. My plan will be to use him mainly as a barrel horse, but also try other events that im interested in with him (such as team penning, mounted shooting, competitive trail riding, ranch horse competition and maybe some other things). With foundation breeding i think you get a good, solid, trainable mind and thats why it is so easy for many foundation bred horses to be all around type horses (after all, that is what they were bred for) and you also get good bone and foot which is why i think they stay sound for years and years and years even while being used hard everyday. MY "prefect" cross is race/barrel race bred crossed on foundation. That way you get speed from the race and a mind and built to last from the foundation.
