I'm so glad they were all ok. It was amazing to watch them calmly stand and/or lay there like that's what they were supposed to do!

Southtxponygirl - 2014-05-14 11:46 PM A friend of mine was there when it happen and was telling me about the accident, and how good the horses were during all this. I'm not going to watch the video, I hate seeing stuff like this, just makes me sick for the horses

I am not watching either, I don't watch the blooper reels either of horses or people falling.  Very impressive how these horses reacted- a testament to their handlers.

I am a total softie..... I wait with watching horse races on  live tv, and watch the replay...but knowing the happy outcome, I decided to watch it.......and it is truly heartwarming....

LRQHS - 2014-05-15 4:18 AM Β If I were rich and could afford one, I would so love to have a Clydesdale to parade with. I'm not sure how I would keep him looking so maginificent. I'd probably need to hire a care giver for him too....but, man, I sure would enjoy prancing around in parade after parade.....I might even take himΒ around the barrels a few times.

If your interested let me know.Β  My brother raises them and is friends with the Budweiser crew out of St Louis. Β

A friend of mine up here in KS won the KS Equifest breed competition (2012 I think) on her Clydesdale mare :) She had to jump, barrel race, complete a dressage pattern, complete a trail course, and some other things I am forgetting! You can shoot off that mare too! Really really neat horses for sure!

I work with that team and all of the horses with fine. Some harnass was broken but that was it. Also I can not talk about what caused it but I will say  it wasn't a driver error......

I have 1 for sure, maybe 2 that would react that way.  The first time I drove my 4 year old, she got mad and spun herself into a tangle of lines with her nose stuck to a stirrup and one foot in the air.  When she realized she was in a bind, she stood there and looked at me like "help".  I got her unhooked and untangled and she went right back to work like it never happened. I adore her.

This video makes my heart smile.

We offer a Draft Horse Barrel Race at the Oklahoma State Fair in September and it is a hoot!  The crowd really gets into it!

Glad all of the horses were okay. Amazed at how calm they stayed and what a great announcer. I am never good when an accident happens and I would have been freaking out. He kept me calm while I was watching it. Lol Gentle Giants forsure

If we ever get out of this drought where I have good rain and grass growing all the time I would get a pair of Draft horses just for the fun of it to have runnming around in my pastures, love these animals.

I was at an air show a few years ago & they had the clydesdales there.  They were so calm & secure with all the planes buzzing & a very large helicopter landed within a 100 ft of them & they didn't give it a second glance.  One of these days I'm going to take a day trip & tour their broodmare facilites.  It's only a few hours away from me.

Looked to me like it was a ground issue that caused the horse to slip. Scary and truly amazing to watch all in one.. Just awe struck...

Nevertooold - 2014-05-15 1:15 AM The great gentle giants.

Ditto. They panic for a second and as soon as they see people, they are patient. How awesome!

I agree.  Looked like a horse tripped or slipped a bit and prolly going a wee bit too fast.  I've had the tongue break during a hitch class, not pretty and definately not fun and that was just a team hitch.

We were stalled next to them at Abilene. We visited with the driver the next day. The one that tripped and fell was one of the two "younger horses" on the team. Driver said that when they do their sequence, the two younger ones got excited and started taking off. They know the routine, and know when it is the end and time to run out. They called a vet out to double check and make sure all the horses were fine.  The drive has been driving for over 20 years. He also told us that this is the first accident he has had. They take excelent care of those horses. They also take temps twice a day.  Budweiser has at least 5 teams and wagons on the road at all times.

If you watch the video the lead horses stepped out of position( to the left) that through off the two teams behind them that were in position and holding, at a canter only one foot is on the ground during the 3 beat. Of course it was easy to throw these big horses to the ground. The toung had to break with the wheel horses trying to avoid the downed horses. It's awesome the team didn't panic like a hot blood would have done.. All I can say AWESOME and well done on the handlers part, for not leaving any holes in their training.

What an amazing testimony to their trainers and handlers! Had my daughter watch it, just to stress the importance of solid fundamentals and the bond you have with your horse.

One of the things I remeber at Booger Barter's barrel race was the Clydesdale barrel race.  It was so cool.
