I went out and was brushing my three and I look over and she got her leg tangled in the barbed wire!! She did get her leg out but she sliced it up pretty good. She was holding her leg in the air so o knew she was hurt. I jumped in my truck and drove to the neighbors to tell them and apparently she is "very nasty" and will "knock you down if you turn your back to her". They said they would take care of her but I'm a bit worried. Oh no, poor poor mare. Hope that they can do something for her, I bet they will have to tranquilize her to see how bad it is. Its a older man and his wife who live there. These horses are his daughter's and she lives in ND. They wouldn't get her, he tried to get her to come in with grain but she wouldn't. I learned that she is also only 3 years old...
maybe its not as bad as you think it is, hopefully its just sore. |

Even more of a reason to take that "horrible, ill tempered" 3 year old off their hands...
I bet with a little TLC and a whole lot of patience, it would bring her around, and allow her to blossom into the mare she is supposed to be. |

The guy said he wants to get rid of her. He actually wants to get rid of all of them. |

Location: on my horse | Take that poor horse off their hands then and turn her into something amazing. You are kind and patient and probably just what she needs. Plus, she's young, cute, and appears to be put together fairly nice.
Either that or get her on the bus to Idaho lol |

| It is amazing what time and patience will do for a horse. It doesn't sound like the filly is mean. Sounds like they don't know much about horses and are afraid of her.
Heck-the more "untouched" she is the better in my opinion! They are easier to work with then one that has been spoiled rotten and allowed to walk all over people.
It is harder to break one of bad habits, then to teach one to trust that has not really had much done with it. Horses tend to be very trusting in nature anyways. Good luck and please keep us posted!!! Backyard horses can become something!! My first barrel horse was a backyard horse that ended up being something special! |

She's a real pretty little mover. She floats when she trots. I would guess she's not over 14.3 hh but she's probably still growing??
Maybe I could talk to the guy and see if he'd let me work with her. At least halter break her and get her used to human contact. The man brought out a bucket of grain to try and catch her and she wouldn't even eat it while he was holding the bucket.

Do it, this horse needs medical care and a loving touch. You're just the person for the job. |

| And....to make it worth your time...I would ask for a percent of the sale price for each horse. I would go as far as to ask for 50%...only because the goal would be to get them out and into good homes as soon as possible and the horses would probably not bring a lot of money if you were to place them in a short amount of time.
Just a thought! |

Location: Minnesota | I'm no horse trainer, I would never pretend to be but this horse just tugs at my heart strings a little bit. I want to do right by her. They have labeled her "nasty" and "mean" and I don't think thats fair to her. She ate out of my hand yesterday just before she got hurt and let me touch her nose. She wouldn't even eat grain out of a bucket the man was holding.
I learned that she was born on their property, they have her mom as well. Maybe something happened to her as a young filly to make her lose trust, I don't know. They do have a round pen and I think Im going to see if they will let me work with her there. |

Location: Minnesota | He also has her full brother so I'm not sure these are rescue horses. Initially that's what my dad said. He had talked to the man shortly after we moved here and I think he mixed things up. Maybe the mom was a rescue but this mare and her brother were born there. All of them are untouched. |

That's a really great question!! I didn't even think to ask. I didn't want to ask to many. I'm going to go over there and just check up on her and see how she's doing. There I go getting all attached...ugh. |
