| I have thrown my leg over some nice ones in the past and have been able to ride them to some nice wins. Have not been able to compete full time in 6 years because life gets in the way. Working full time and having a husband that wants to go rope every weekend (with me, I dang sure dont sit and watch), doesnt leave much time for going to the barrel races (Im lucky to get to go to 4-5 a year). I dont think that makes me any less of a rider or means that I forgot how to run barrels, or that I dont know a good run (or good horse/rider) from a bad one when I see it .... just waiting for the right time to pick be able to go again. ....Of course I am typing this from "behind my desk" at work so I can help pay for our expensive hobbies so I could be wrong. |

Location: Texas | ehhhh I don't really care. The people that spend 99% of a conversation talking about themselves will get that reputation pretty quick without me doing anything about it. Some people live in a world all about them, and in their world- they are #1! whatever floats their boat I guess. |

Unless you rope with him or with someone else.... one day you'll wake up and wonder why you keep thinking the day will come I'll be able to go to races and run, but it never does. Your hubby might want to rope every weekend with you to be there to support and watch, but turn about is fair play. He should want you to enter maybe once a month even with him sitting on the side being your support. Been there; done that

I get tired of explaining the difference between a jackpot or a 5-D barrel race, fun show, or a gymkhana that they are not rodeos. AND trust me I still get told I am wrong. Carry on. |

This bothers me also. BUT when trying to explain barrel racing to somebody who is 100% uninvolved in horses:
Me: it is was what the women do at rodeos, but I do it in a different type of association/organization/set up/system/payout/division
Them: so do you use four barrels then?
Me: no, it is exactly like at the rodeo
Them: so you rodeo then, gosh just say that! Why make it so complicated?
Me: *facepalm* ok, yes, I rodeo. *ugh sigh*
Lol. But seriously, horse-"educated" people who interchange all of the various barrel racing formats drives me nuts. |

when you list a horse for sale and someone calls and emails repeatedly wanting pics and videos and stats and you know from the very first contact that they couldn't afford your horse to start with. It's usually some stupid kid that thinks they know everything and wants to tell me how I should be riding my horses |

Additionally, there are those who have NEVER won big....but they certainly could train a horse that was capable of winning! |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I think someone forgot to tell Charmayne James she "used to be a barrel racer" at the American...Some of our best clinicians "used" to be barrel racers, some of them haven't even ever entered up. I can tell you from personal experience the best help I ever got was from a old cowboy that had never been around a set of cans in his life but he can sure as heck circle up a cow. Made my barrel horse a much better horse when I quit trying to tell him what I knew and learned what he had to teach me. |
