He's a traitor. A deserter. Who is "ashamed to be American". Guys who were over there when it happened, within his unit and beyond, have all said the exact same thing: HE DESERTED HIS POST WHILE ON DUTY. He left his post!!! He endangered the lives of everyone on that base. THEN we lost 6 men trying to look for his nasty disgusting cowardly self.

There are far better ways to go about getting out of a deployment than to just walk away. If he was really a true POW, they would've killed him. Because he would have resisted! But being as his entire family is very un-American, my guess is he didn't even put up a fight. Went along with everything.

It was their plan all along. They get 5 "leaders", he gets to be hailed as a hero. I wonder when/what he will attack when he gets back to the States. He's probably a recruit of theirs. That's my thoughts.

Another case of us normal citizens just having to sit back and do nothing while this dictator makes his own decisions bypassing congress...therefore, ignoring the rights of the representatives we voted into office to speak for us, as well as ignoring the checks and balances our government has in place to avoid a situation exactly like this one....

HotbearLVR - 2014-06-02 9:41 AM I really wonder if there isn't more to this story. These 5 guys sound like very high level Taliban operatives. To me, that is very conspicuous. There are ways of implanting tracking devices in these men without their knowing it. Assuming this is the case, these guys could lead us to many other high level leaders. Maybe this sounds too far fetched, but the level of sophisticated technology that is being used by our intelligence operatives has to be mind-boggling. If these 5 can be tracked, it's not hard to imagine how useful that could prove to be.

That is a big IF, but the same words that came out of my husbands mouth. He wasn't sure Obama would have the balls to order it, and lets not forget these 5 are probably the highest ranking leaders of the Taliban and we had them already, they will not lead us anywhere, but they will have the ability to order attacks and mastermind the death of many.
As far as this taking away from the VA deal, let's not forget the VA has been a mess as long as we can remember, I cannot blame Obama for it's mess, it has been a long time in the making.
I am thrilled that most of America has it's eye on this Bergdahl release....it makes zero sense, unless your the family who has been praying for it.  Some of the stuff I am reading makes me hope they go into hiding for awhile, there are some very p issed off Americans.

I think there is a lot more to this story. We didn't care 2 cents about this guy for 5 years. Why now? My guess is either that he was giving up information and the US Govt wanted to get him back and debrief him. Or even something like someone else mentioned that there is strategy behind releasing the five Al Qaeda guys.

Some uproar is deserved, but to me honestly, its just the media's way to make a month's worth of advertising dollars $$$$$ by screaming negativity to the masses.

He will come home with guilt.....he and only he knows what he did that night and why.  I want to hear what he has to say.....Those who have served with him are telling their story, it's not a positive one.

I am probably hearing and reading the same stories you are FG.   I am beyond livid.

Forwarded from XXXXXX. "We were at OP Mest, Paktika Province, Afghanistan. It was a small outpost where B Co 1-501st INF (Airbone) ran operations out of, just an Infantry platoon and ANA counterparts there. The place was an Afghan graveyard. Bergdahl had been acting a little strange, telling people he wanted to "walk the earth" and kept a little journal talking about how he was meant for better things. No one thought anything about it. He was a little “out there”. Next morning he's gone. We search everywhere, and can't find him. He left his weapon, his kit, and other sensitive items. He only took some water, a compass and a knife. We find some afghan kids shortly after who saw an american walking north asking about where the taliban are. We get hits on our voice intercepter that Taliban has him, and we were close. We come to realize that the kid deserted his post, snuck out of camp and sought out Taliban… to join them. We were in a defensive position at OP Mest, where your focus is to keep people out. He knew where the blind spots were to slip out and that's what he did. It was supposed to be a 4-day mission but turned into several months of active searching. Everyone was spun up to find this guy. News outlets all over the country were putting out false information. It was hard to see, especially when we knew the truth about what happened and we lost good men trying to find him. PFC Matthew Michael Martinek, Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss, SSG Clayton Bowen, PFC Morris Walker, SSG Michael Murphrey, 2LT Darryn Andrews, were all KIA from our unit who died looking for Bergdahl. Many others from various units were wounded or killed while actively looking for Bergdahl. Fighting Increased. IEDs and enemy ambushes increased. The Taliban knew that we were looking for him in high numbers and our movements were predictable. Because of Bergdahl, more men were out in danger, and more attacks on friendly camps and positions were conducted while we were out looking for him. His actions impacted the region more than anyone wants to admit. There is also no way to know what he told the Taliban: Our movements, locations, tactics, weak points on vehicles and other things for the enemy to exploit are just a few possibilities. The Government knows full well that he deserted. It looks bad and is a good propaganda piece for the Taliban. They refuse to acknowledge it. Hell they even promoted him to Sergeant which makes me sick. I feel for his family who only want their son/brother back. They don’t know the truth, or refuse to acknowledge it as well. What he did affected his family and his whole town back home, who don’t know the truth. Either way what matters is that good men died because of him. He has been lying on all those Taliban videos about everything since his “capture”. If he ever returns, he should be tried under the UCMJ for being a deserter and judged for what he did. Bergdahl is not a hero, he is not a soldier or an Infantryman. He failed his brothers. Now, sons and daughters are growing up without their fathers who died for him and he will have to face that truth someday." The men that wrote this post were there.

Did John McCain forget how to speak English after 6 yrs of hearing only Vietnamese? Hardly, this is some kind of cooked up deal and like every other Obama scandal, the only answers we'll ever get is lies!! I saw a report last night that said, get this, without even yet seeing their son, or hearing his voice, they are sure there will probably be at least two books about this. Seems like they're seeing $$$$$$

I think it's a conspiracy. Bergdahl was reported to have went looking for the Taliban, interacted and joked with them, played with and taught children games and was well taken care of; his father speaks Arabic and Islamic and makes public posts that are in support of releasing murdering terrorists. I think it was planned all along- America plays into a heart throb story of a clean cut American POW while the alleged POW un doubtfully supplied the Taliban with Army intelligence and operation tactics. At the end of this ordeal, the US releases the 5 terrorists and we get a traitor back. Any guesses on how soon this family goes back to living under the rock, off the radar and disappears? I believe he will be out of the news headlines very quickly. It's people like this that enable terrorism on US land and I believe in the future we will have another attack that this family will be tied to.

Assuming these guys can be traced, it would provide immensely valuable information on the whereabouts of terrorist hideouts, their patterns, and innumerable associates. If all 5 of these guys were whacked, for sure someone else would step up and fill their shoes. If they are alive they could be much more valuable. I'm just speculating here because in matters like this I believe all isn't what it appears to be in situations like this. Basically, these guys could unwittingly serve as double agents working for us. For instance, let's say a given "tagged" terrorist is tracked to a hotel in Zurich, and CIA operatives photograph him with other men who are then themselves followed.....ultimately back to the US. That could lead to the uncovering of terrorist "cells" right here at home, already in the process of plotting attacks....possibly the next big one. It would seem to me that the widespread outrage that follows the "release" of these terrorists would serve to motivate the terrorists to get the former GITMO detainees back in the game, sooner, rather than later.....sort of as a thumb in the eye of the US, and our allies. I think this could end up being a brilliant move, but I doubt it would be the result of Obama's imagination. He would just go along with it.
Anyway, for decades things like this have taken place. If you read about espionage in WWII you would be fascinated. The CIA other intelligence agencies use the media as a means of miscommunication, and misdirect enemies all the time.

I'm glad he had the guts to write this. I hope that several others will do the same. As far as I'm concerned Congress should have to listen to anyone that has been hushed in the past by this incident.

coco~n~cash - 2014-06-02 10:58 AM IMHO the Commander in Chief committed treason doing this he needs to be held accountable and impeached. I am so tired of this mess. It scares me what these freed men will do now. I am sure they are not just planning a nice 4th of July picnic.

Bergdahl is a traitor and a deserter. He abandoned his post and is responsible for the deaths of many members of the armed forces. I have no respect for him, and I have no respect for his family. I have many more thoughts and very strong opinions in regards to Bergdahl, his family, and the Commander in Chief and would love to offer them but will not due to my own affiliation in the armed forces.

One last note, he does not even come close to deserving the title of 'hero' that so many people have naively bestowed upon him. Bergdahl is no better than the lowest scum on the earth.
