| All we raise are paints. We breed them to our own son of Sun Frost and who is out of an own daughter or Rocket Wrangler. All of the mares I run are paint, they're no slower, no stupider, and are just as good as QH... Pistol Packin Hero is a paint, Sun Spoiled Yogurt is to. Our brood mares are all spotted up, Kodachrome Miss is a 3x world champion producer and dam of 5 AAA running horses. Miss Hero is a world champion running mare, who is the dam of 1d barrel horses, Katys Luck has APHA team roping points and is the dam to 1d barrel horses! When people put paints on a "Lower Class Level) Kinda gets me going... What I don't understand is when people pay the big cash for Geldings, especially at a young age! |

Location: Alberta | My first really good barrel horse was a paint. But he was a solid chestnut. The fact that he was registered as a paint didn't deter my dad from originally buying him for my brother. I don't think that we would have ever sold him (we ended up putting him down because he almost cut a foot off in a wire fence).
My mom bought a paint horse that she broke to ride. I tried training him on barrels but it just didn't work, he hated it. But he was one of the best rope horses we owned. You could head, heel, calf rope and breakaway on him. We ended up trading him for a really good calf horse.
I've seen a lot of people run paints and some of them will kick your ass any day of the week, the others not so much. I think it depends on how good they are at their job affects their value when you do go to sell them. Personally I prefer the running bred quarter horses, but if I came across a paint that showed potential I would consider buying it. |

Location: fun meter pegged OK | whohasaplan - 2014-06-11 9:42 AM I bred my mare to Sky High Fame last year and got a beautiful painted up filly. She is not for sale but it is funny that I have had 2 other foals out of her and everyone wants to buy this one. I have had 3 offers on her. So, this being my first APHA breeding ...... I would say that good ones are selling just fine. Enough said - him and Treasured - Jim had the 2 top of the line APHAs that had proved themselves!
ETA - Forgot to add Judys Lineage another top APHA

Location: Tyler, Texas | Many of todays Paints are QH with color. Paints are holding their value very well, and if you plan on competing with the horse he should do nothing but increase in value. I wouldnt hesitate to buy one |

Location: Central Montana | I have a solid paint - I've had her since she was about 3 months old. She is 8 this year, well broke, started with a reining trainer, shown in western classes, started on barrels and poles, just not finished in anything.
A lot of speed mixed with some performance/cow

Put her up for sale many months ago to buy a reiner, reiner I bought turns out isn't 100% sound (had him checked before buying) so I took her off the market until I have him ready to show.
My last seasoned horse was also a solid paint that I bought from 1Left2Right. I had her for several years and she is now with a family who's daughter just qualified for the National Jr. Rodeo in IA.
