Location: Montana | Personally, no. There was a mare for sale here locally that was double bred Texas High Dasher...he was the sire and grandsire on the bottom if I remember correctly...but a definite turn off for me. I don't mind line breeding, just not that close up.
But if you'd like, you can send me one of your nice foals for an early birthday gift. Never mind my birthday isn't until November, LOL. |

| barrelracr131 - 2014-06-24 12:14 PM Whiteboy - 2014-06-24 11:51 AM Do you people not realize that HFD is pretty much the hottest thing in racing right now? To breed him to a 3/4 sister. I would guarantee that horse would sell in a heartbeat. I agree.
From a genetics perspective, I probably would not risk it myself (this close)
There are a lot of issues in human patients regarding familial genetic "problems" when cousins intermarry. (common in many cultures).
Sometimes, folks have areas in their genetic makeup which are not diverse enough, dubbed "LOH"'s or Loss of heterozygosity. Sometimes, it meants nothing... other times, it can be a severe congenital deformity. I'm not sure how it works with horses though!
Generally those issues only occure after several generations of inbreeding. These two horses while close are not close enough to cause a problem, and if it were you could still sell the horse for a pretty penny to a research university to study. Look at the thoroughbred industy, they are only now concerned about this after they have been doing it for 100 years. It shouldn't be done over and over, but in this case it is not a issue. I guarantee it. |

Haha, So I live in a very small town. The only way for girl to guarantee she won't have to move away is to marry a local boy. The problem is that they are all cousins. My rule: if a girl is going to marry somebody, she better have to change her last name. |
