You both have done a wonderful thing for this horse! I especially love that first picture, he looks like a real barrel horse! I'd never imagine that he was once in as bad of a condition he was in.
to you both!

I wish I had taken better pics of the before. What is hard to tell is the depth perception of his rib cage. You could lay a two litre bottle of soda on top of his ribs cage and it would not roll off, that is how bad thin he was and how deep the drop was from the spine to the ribs. Plus he was infested with lice! But he followed me everywhere BEGGING me to choose him that day. I said if he got on the slant load on the last hole- I would take him- he jumped right on! And I PAID MONEY for him- that is how bad I felt the need to save him. What a sweet sweet sweet fella. THANK YOU RWJ for taking him once I got him healthy.
You are the hero in this story. I cannot say that enough. It is easy to imagine him following you around.....he still follows anyone who goes in the pen around. He knew that day that you were going to be his angel.
I have said many times that it doesn't matter to me one bit if he turns into a great barrel horse because there are so many other things he can do. I know my sister-in-law would take him in a heartbeat for a trail horse and pasture pet, and I have a feeling he'll wind up being a super nice kid horse. We all fell in love with him right away and every day I'm thankful that you sent him on to us.

Well, his size is intimidating to many. Dont you think he is HUGE? But so sweet. I never had such an instant connection with one. My heart is often larger than my long term plans--$$$$. I loved saving him and fixing him back to healthy but then thought---what will I do with him now? And forever? I knew he wanted to be somebody's special horse. He seems to love being useful. I am SOOOOO Happy you took him and gave him a chance.

He is huge, but I think he's going to be the type that tiptoes around people because he doesn't want to hurt anyone or get in trouble. We'll see if he does turn out to be a kid horse. There are no kids in my immediate family, just my sister-in-law's nieces and nephews, and they haven't had a chance to meet him yet since I took our two oldest horses out to Kyle & Rachel's and the kids have ridden them instead of coming to Mom & Dad's to ride.
He does like going and doing stuff and being someone's friend. I was a little worried when Brett grabbed half a tree and started dragging it behind Streak last week but the big fella never batted an eye. I'm looking forward to doing more with him in the future, maybe some of those extreme trail courses, though we'll have to avoid water obstaces because he won't step in water at all. lol.
