| Hmmm...interesting coincidence-
2 passengers on the missing Malaysian triple 7 over the Indian Ocean had stolen passports and final destination was Amsterdam via Beijing. Our fearless leader Obama said there was no ties to the two gentleman with stolen passports and a missing/downed Jet. Now another Malaysian triple 7 shot down and originated from Amsterdam???

This is beyond tragic, how could they (whoever shot it down) mistake a commercial airliner for fighter jet? Β Not possible! Β My heart goes out to the families of the victims, they never saw it coming. Β
You cannot make that mistake These are not shoulder fired. They are radar guided and the radar can identify types of aircraft and direct the missile to the target they want to hit. This was NOT an accident. |

I agree. But why was the commercial plane flying over a war zone? It was said that there was a world wide warning since April not to fly over this area. |

I believe it was CNN who reported there were storms more south that made them reroute and fly more north and over the war zone. Also, from the surface to 32,000 feet was "closed" by Ukrainian officials. The pilots were flying at 33, what is to be considered safe. Buk missile system (what it was believed to be shot down with) has a range of 43,000 feet. I highly doubt the Ukrainians knew there was a missile in the area.

If it had to climb 33k that means the plane had to be almost directly above them when it got there.. There's your launch location. |

| cruise - 2014-07-17 9:02 PM Fox just reported the president is back in DC after his day of fundraising. Whooooppppie
In his first term, Obama attended more fundraising events than any other president in recent history. According to author Brendan J. Doherty, from 2008 to 2012 Obama went to 321 events, compared to just 80 for Ronald Reagan. And, as the chart below shows, he’s done 72 events in his second term – 34 this year alone. So far, he’s ahead of the pace of George W. Bush, who had been to 30 events at this point in 2006. In his two presidential terms combined, Bush hosted 318 fundraisers. Obama has already smashed that number with 393 events to date. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | By using the Buk missile system it casts doubt as to who fired the missile. Some will say it could have been the Ukrainian military as they have that weapons system....BUT...it's well known that Russia has been supplying the separatists and no doubt they gave them these systems as well. I don't see how this could have been an "Oops!"...those systems would have indicated the type of plane and altitude. They knew what they were shooting at.
The Ukrainian government has nothing really to gain by shooting down this passenger jet. They would only be setting themselves up for a crap storm from Russia and the world would be against them. The only ones that "win" in this situation are Putin and the Russians....and therefore the pro-russian separatists. By having this plane downed...no matter who is responsible in truth...he can declare that the region is too unstable and that he/Russia must step in to end the conflict by taking over Ukraine. That's what he wants anyway.
Meanwhile our current White House tenant will read a speach off a teleprompter and get out that red pen to write a stern letter full of meaningless sanctions. |

There were 100 AIDS experts headed to the WHO convention that were on board. My heart goes out to the victims & their families.

Another thing to think about is that it happened on the anniversary of TWA 800. |

Location: Alabama | The first Malaysian Airliner that disappeared into the ocean was actually headed to China, not Amsterdam. The Pro Russian Ukraines is who they believe shot this one down and they "thought" it was a cargo plane, not a passenger plane. They had already shot down 2 cargo planes prior to this.
Very sad. |

With the radar used to guide the missles, it would have been identified as a commercial jet (AKA civilian). There is no way to mistake it as a military plane. |

We can agree to disagree on this one. Radar detects size, not the call number. Military (missile) radar is quite different than radar that air traffic control uses. So, yes, it can easily be mistaken for a cargo plane.

I should have expounded on this a little more. In the black box, all airplanes carry a trasponder that the radar, military planes have 2. The first transponder marks the plane as either civilian or military, the 2nd marks a military plane by country (freind of foe). When the missle locks onto a target before launch, it first looks for the #1 transponder signal to tell if the plane is civilian or military, once it is determined military it looks for the 2nd signal to tell wether friend or foe. This can be over riden to hit any airborne target. The missle used was the latest incarnation of the BUK missle or SA-11. |
