Thank you! :) I don't think the pommel is much different in height than the Crown C (maybe a 1/4"?), but edges are definitely more square and that (to me) makes it seem a lot taller. I do believe they are all that high, though. I really like its tooling. I took a gamble with that and the chestnut leather with black background paint. I thought it would look good on my black mare. I can't wait to go pick it up and put it on her! | |

I custom ordered this saddle for my black mare from Martin through National Saddlery in OKC at the BBR finals this past April. A really nice guy named Jesse and a very helpful and kind woman named Jaye help me design it and pick it out all of the options. Jaye also helped me fit my little mare.

I LOVE your roughout saddle!! How did you order the triple border? My next one will likely be a roughout and I absolutely love that border. I've configured a bunch on the Martin website, but some features aren't offered (like the extra tooling on mine). Is that border the same way? Or are there some tricks to the trade when customizing it on their website? | |

I LOVE your roughout saddle!! How did you order the triple border? My next one will likely be a roughout and I absolutely love that border. I've configured a bunch on the Martin website, but some features aren't offered (like the extra tooling on mine). Is that border the same way? Or are there some tricks to the trade when customizing it on their website?
Awww Thanks, I really liked that saddle, it was a shame its didnt fit my horse, I should have ordered another one like it in a different gullet, but for some dumb reason I didnt,lol..
I ordered that saddle threw a BB on here that was a dealer with Martin's, I tolded her what I wanted and she got it done..I love triple borders, If I do another one I'm going to try for 4 borders,lol..I think that would really look cool. | |

I think the dots also work well on a Crown C. It was so hard for me to make up my mind while designing this saddle. It was my first custom saddle, but I am very excited how it turned out.

Yes. The conchos are the clear Crystal cross conchos. The finish is actually chestnut. Now that I've ridden in it the color has dulled some but it still looks about the same with a little dust on it. : ) I wanted at least chestnut so the blue jean marks wouldn't show so bad. I can't stand how obvious it is on some natural saddles. I was going to do chocolate but knew they showed A LOT of dirt. So I went with the finish in the middle. | |

Location: MN | Havent had my Crown C for very long but I absolutely LOVE it!! Noticed a huge difference in my horses stride and it fits him like a glove.

Sorry it's taken so long! I tried taking pictures last night, but it was getting dark and my poor girl was getting so mad with me trying to get it all rigged up for her. She's been on stall rest for going on 8 months, so she was just so excited and thought we were going for a ride and she was getting really antsy. Heck, I don't even have a snap for the back cinch strap that hooks to the front cinch on it yet.
Also, if there's something I need to do different, please let me know. When I tried taking pictures last night, I only had a 1/2" saddle pad on me, and that wasn't working whatsoever. She was dancing around like a mare who's been on stall rest for almost 8 months. So I used a 3/4" pad today and that worked loads better. She's also lost some mass on her back since was fitted, so that's also another issue (stall rest isn't exactly her thing). But using that 3/4" pad and putting the shim on there was a lot easier today when she was a bit more calm. This was my first time putting a gullet that big on a horse. It was a bit different than an 8" gullet! (Some of the angled pictures might make it look like it's running a litle downhill, but there wasn't any rock when I put the shim on).

Thats just a beautiful saddle. I like seeing it on your mare, I can see more details on it, I like the way the swells are sitting, did you get to sit in it while it was on your mare? I have never seen swells sit like that befor, very interesting looking | |

Well, thank you. :) I really appreciate it. It looks a lot lighter in the pictures than it does in person (to me, at least). I think I like the swells, too. I didn't sit in it with it on her. I have another mare that we just picked up last week on the east coast and she's pretty stout, and I might see if it fits her. It has a 10.5" gullet with flatter bars, and it might be a bit small for her. She's pretty big, but she's bigger than my black mare. I'll see if it fits her and if it does, that's what I'll probably ride her in until I can get her her own saddle.
To the original poster, I've never compared Martin's different angled bars. Mine has flattened bars, so when I picked it up, I took a picture of it sitting next to another FX3 with I think a 9" gullet and regular bars. Mine is on the left, and the regular bars is on the right.
