If you are unsure, you could always try a henna tattoo, to find the place and see if you still like it in a week

I think people can make or break the tattoo arguement based on how they interpret scriptures in the bibe.

If you want a tattoo, just give a lot of thought and then decide. This is one of my favorite quotes:

I just got a tattoo last night - a picture of my horse that I lost last week.  I honestly don't really care what anyone else thinks of the tattoo, I got it for myself.  It will be covered 99% of the time and it's one that I know I will always treasure.

I do have one from when I was 20 that I would love to cover up/remove someday, if I find something else that I love as much as my horse one.  I'll add a picture, just because I'm so in love with it :)

Also, if you do end up getting your tattoo, make sure you do a lot of research on a GOOD artist.  Don't just walk into the first place you see.  That will make a huge difference in how much you will like it in the future!

My niece has a sideways rose on the top of her boob, now that she is in her late 30's she says she wishes she would have gotten in laying up & down so it would have turned into a long stemmed rose instead of wide rose

I love that quote! As far as bible interpretation, if he asked you to read Leviticus, you would have also noticed that men should not shave their beards,  men should not marry widows or divorced women, and  we should not wear clothing made of two different fabrics (polyblends)... all of which happen on a regular basis nowadays. The point is, people will interpret it however they want in their given situation.
IMO, if my body is a temple, I want some art to decorate it! Just make sure you find a good tattoo artist and you convey to him/her exactly what you want. Do your homework and look at their portfolios, go visit their shop, etc. Good luck!

It's a cross,? Skip the horseshoe if you must. It can always be added later. God forgives.

Don't ever jump into the decision on getting a tattoo... you need to make sure the tattoo has meaning to you.
the picture you posted is beautiful... " country and a cross" I personally love it. minus the horse shoe.

this decision can only be made by you. your first tattoo needs to be put somewhere that you can cover up. meaning with clothes... so it won't effect your work, etc.

I, myself have several tattoo... and most of them are placed in area's that can be covered with clothes if I want them to..

dianea - 2014-09-17 11:36 PM I love my tats. I have several - all of them mean something to me and none of which are visible unless I choose or am wearing a bikini. I was 40 when I got my first. I will be 45 tomorrow. I could care less what anyone thinks and don't feel it's a theological issue. That said..if you have to question the decision to get one or even ask for opinions unless from a SO, I don't think you are ready for one. As for what the Bible interpretation is, I'm not going to have a theological debate verse by verse. Again if you have to question the decision, the answer is no. I personally don't think God gives a toss if I have tats and piercings (and yes I have piercings, again none readily visible). I think God is far more concerned about many other things than ink and bling. If we chose to interpret the Bible as we know it completely literally I'm sure we would all be living different lives. I have two fave thoughts on those who criticize what someone chooses to with THEIR body... "You really don't have to tell me you don't like my tattoos. Your opinion never entered my mind when I was getting them." And for crankier moments... The 3 F's rule applies. "If you're not Feeding me, Financing me, or (editing here! ) Frolicking me, then your opinion doesn't matter". Unless you can look at it that way, my advice is DON'T.

This is very similar to the way I feel about it.  I only have 1, that I got when I was 30.  It was one I designed and it has a lot of meaning to me. It's covered up unless I'm in a bikini and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks about it.  I might get another one in the next few years if the mood strikes me.

IF you choose to get a tattoo somewhere that is very visible when wearing 'business' clothes, then do it with the understanding that it won't be accepted in some professions.  You might limit yourself professionally.

I didn't know any of that except the pork but we don't eat pork anyway. If it don't swim or moo I don't eat it.

I currently am a preschool teachers aid. There are several workers here that have them. Some are visable some aren't. My boss started getting complaints about it. She told them they could take there children someone where else if they wanted to because she wasn't going to fire someone over tattoos and she wouldn't not hire someone because of them either. I come from a family that have very traditional southern values. A tattoo would be a big no no but my uncle just got one and he's 58 but it's something that means a lot to him. If I get one and I do get looked down on that's my excuse. He got one so can I. I showed to pic to Dad and he told me he was aginst them but it was really pretty and I needed to go read the bible lol. So I guess if you wanna get technical about it he didn't say no.

We can all put our 2 cents in on this, but the bottom line is that since you seem to be seeking God's guidance on this, He will speak to your heart and soul through His Holy Spirit and give you the answer you are searching for. You know that feeling you get when you know you should or shouldn't do something! After you have prayed and asked for His guidance and you feel comfortable getting a tattoo, then go for it... if not, then DON'T!

and this one I just had my son added to last night

I do the hireing. I don't hire people with tatoos. They care enough to cover them up for an interview, then I'm fine with it.

I Corinthians 6:19 and 20
What did Paul mean when he said that our bodies belong to God? Many people say they have the right to do
whatever they want with their own bodies. Although they think this is freedom, they are really enslaved by
their own desires. When we become Christians, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us. Therefore, we no longer own our bodies. Christ's death freed us from sin, but also obligates us to his service. If you live in a building owned by someone else, you try not to violate the building's rules. Because your body belongs to God, you must not violate his standards for living.

3rdtimesacharm - 2014-09-19 7:51 AM  We are suppose to be like Christ in all areas of our life. I don't believe the  a Bible speaks about Jesus having tattoos.   Your body is the temple of Christ. I think most women have beautiful legs. There is nothing I dislike more then seeing a lady all dressed up and having tattoos on her legs ruining that beautiful picture.  To each his own, but you asked for our opinions. Pray and ask God for Hia opinions, He is who matters

I agree with this.  As Christians, we are to emulate Christ. God made us in his image and that is enough.  You don need body art to be beautiful.

Agree with this too.  The fact that the OP is asking the. Question tells me that the Holy Spirit has already been trying to say that it is not OK.  You wouldn't ask if there wasn't a problem.

My take on tats.. My grandpa was in the Navy during WWII, he didn't get one so I figure I can manage just fine without one as well. I don't need a horse, cross, family tat for people to know those are all important to me. They will find that out if we get to know each other. I don't get offended by them, some are pretty, some are just cool looking BUT so many  are just look plain goofy. Plus they can be expensive and I don't like the thought of getting ink injected into my skin.

heck I believe your body is a temple treat it as such!

The 10 Commandments are very clear about things yet no one ever mentions them!!

so this question makes me giggle.....  I'm tattoo free and always will be
