You have got to put up game cameras so you can share your adventures with the rest of us.  But I am really sorry for both you & Fred.

Oh, for you few getting a laugh out of my near death experience lol, here's another visual. Fred always rides on the lawn mower with me. He sits on my left leg and I hold him with my left arm/arm pit. He will follow me around circle after circle after circle until I let him ride, so it's just an automatic thing now. Well, hornets are bearing down on me, swarming all around us and all I can think of first is my little Fred. I'm pretty sure I threw him a good 30 yards like a football lol. Hornets everywhere, chihuahua flying through the air, me running like a lunatic, beer flying everywhere......I'm pretty sure I didn't spill/throw my beer until I had at least 10 hits lol..

Sooo funny!!!
Only, I pictured you flailing and running, flying chihuahua and all, but without spilling a drop of your beer!

Okay, so why did you not take pictures of the nest and post for us to see?  Are you slipping in your old age, or did the hornet stings temporarily give you dementia?

That is scary, so glad that they didnt get you to bad, it was bad enough with the stings that you got. This happen to me when we lived in the Rio Grand Valley, I was working an area where I worked barrels with our closed in cab tractor, every time I got close to this one area, I would see the dogs kinda jumping around, and then it got worst, tons of bees came out of the ground and attacked the tractor and got in  the cab with me, finally got the door open, I thought I got it into park and hauled bums for hubby's shop and he saw what was happening all the bees were following me into the shop, had a few stings maybe 18, he had to get the air hose to blow them off of me, I wasnt cover but had enough. Tractor was up against a tree I thought I had it in park, I had it in a crawl, so when it hit the tree it just sit there.
They were the killer bee's and they were trying to live up to their name. The Fire Deparment came out and found the nest in a under ground water pipe.

I just had a mental image of that, lol. However it was better that out happened to you than my dad... he is extremely allergic to all kinds of hornet, wasp, and bee stings...so he has to take benadryl or another antihistamine even though he takes medication that says he shouldn't take antihistamines. But sorry it did happen to you as that hurts a lot. I do my best to avoid stinging insects.

Wow, gald you did not get hurt worse.  I have read of hornets/bees/wasps etc causing the person to have bad accidents trying to get away while on a tractor. Our neighbor behind us scared up a swarm of killer bees- luckily he was in a cab of his tractor- they swarmed the tractor for an hour trying to get at him.

Yes, Fred was fine. He had some little hurt feelings all day yesterday and a fake limp......when I wasn't watching he could jump on the couch just fine lol. I had to cuddle him in bed all day yesterday, drool on him and talk baby talk lol.

It was up in the insulation. The top layer was attached to the floor of the mobile home and it layered down. In the picture, the layer all the way to the left is two stacked together and that was the top layer.

Hubby and I were driving with the windows down a while back. Suddenly had a searing, hot, stabbing and awfyl pinchy feeling on my back. So I start clawing my shirt off, and whaddaya know? Damn hornet.  It swelled up like a golfball. One was bad enough. Sorry you had to get stung up. That's terrifying. Good thing you didnt crash your mower.
