Location: The Oklahoma plains. | I also lean towards thinking the filly ran in to something. Looks like hit head on and then ran while being scraped up as she fled. I would think if it were a person- she would have a more random pattern of injury while fighting to get away- as I would suspect she was loose.
I am also very skeptical becuase of the fund set up to collect money for vet bills- seems like a better story to get money for than simply she was injured by something she ran in to. Again, jmo. |

I didn't think of this, very plausible. |

I thought the same thing when I went to the facebook page to read about what happened. It was like 3 lines. No dates or other specific details.. |

Location: Oregon | Poor thing!! Horrible. Regardless of HOW it happened I'm so happy that they were able to help and fix her and I hope she recovers. I did see on Facebook that someone posted the contact info to the vet clinic where people could make a donation directly to the clinic if they wanted to. There were a few people disputing the story and calling it a scam |

Yeah, there is a chance that it's a scam... I just hate to think people would do that, too. |

Location: N Texas | While I don't believe this is a scam, I too lean toward the idea of the filly running into something. Can you imagine the sheer force it would take for a human to do that? Just imagine the scenario--a filly loose in a pasture standing still long enough for someone to hack away at her face? It would take a very large, strong person to do that kind of damage with any kind of weapon, and I just don't see that kind of damage being inflicted with one blow.
I know there are some truly sick people out there, I just don't believe this was caused by a person. |

Location: Arkansas | I've never owned a horse, much less a baby, that would have stood still for me to stand directly in front of them, raise my arms above my head and be able to swing (anything) directly at their face.. Much less be able to get near enough to try to repeat the action..
But, if someone did/could have done this.. They are in need of help and apprehention to be put away from society. |

| I have seen this going around on facebook and my thoughts were that she had to have gotten caught up in something and freaked out. Because even very people friendly foals aren't going to just stand there, and why is the dam completely unharmed? If they were in there why not go after her too? Regardless its very sad, but with so much damage I only wonder what kind of life that poor baby will live. |

| This person should be sterilized because God knows we don't want more like this around. Most defiantly not enough chlorine in the gene pool. |

Location: Mississippi | I don't put anything past human beings anymore cuz there are some real scary people out there, but many years ago my husband had a yearling to run under the gooseneck part of trailer (she was being chased by other horses) & cut her face almost exactly like this. Half of her head was just hanging there. It was horrible. He called the vet out to put her down, but the vet wanted to try to save her & he did! So I can see both sides....could have been a person, but most likely it was self inflicted. |

Location: South Central Florida | This is a friend of mine. I know the owner and the mare. At first they believed the filly (another weanling was also injurred) was chased by something like a panther or bear and did as someone mentioned, hit her head. However after the surgery at Auburn University, the team of surgeons have stated that they do not believe in any way was this an accident. They believe it was done with an axe or machette do to the depth and shape edge of the wounds. The filly lost her eye but she is doing remarkebly well other wise. The photo's are graphic. I have more current photos on my phone. She is home and doing very well at this point. The other weanling was also injurred but very minor compared to this. There may be more information, but it I believe they are not talking about it openly for obvious reasons. If I learn any more I will post. |

Location: stray dump capital of the world | A horse here allegedly had her vagina mutilated by her owner because she wouldn't breed. From Dual Peppy, this 4 month old filly and this mutilated horse, I wonder what the heck is happening in this world. It makes me sick to hear of these cases and leaves me to wonder about the ones not making the news.

DO3 is most certainly NOT a scam. We have raised over $80k in the last 2 years for multiple causes. From animal rescues to wildfire relief efforts to tornado victims to the SD ranchers affected by Atlas. We have had 10 Rodeo Kids now, and hoping to add more! I am actually holding a benefit for DO3 tomorrow. I absolutely love DO3.
I retract my previous statement. This woman is a horrible human being and she should be punished for all the awful things she's done. The filly was not attacked. There is no evidence, besides her own words. Her own daughter posted that the horse was involved in an ACCIDENT, not an attack.
She's dragging two fantastic organizations through the mud.AFTER said organizations paid off her $4300 vet bill.
