This is true... It is known as Reston.... it killed several monkeys and 2 people were known to show antibodies from that outbreak but they never even got sick from it. Sorry.. wrong book Ok I mixed up my books.. There is a good book called 'The Hot Zone' about that indecent.

Outbreak in 1990 in USA 4 cases but no deaths, it was a strain of Ebola called RESTV that was brought to a quarantined facility by monkeys brought over from the Philippines. In Texas & Virginia.

Public health officials discounted any threat to humans as they euthanized 48 monkeys Wednesday to contain an outbreak of the Ebola virus at a research center.
``The public has never been in danger and still isn't,'' said state Health Commissioner Dr. David Smith.
Still, fears about an outbreak involving a different strain of the Ebola virus that killed hundreds of people in Africa last year prompted even President Clinton to offer reassurances from Tokyo.
``There is no substantial threat to the general population of the people there or the people of the United States generally,'' Clinton said.
One monkey had already died and another had been euthanized at the Texas Primate Center, which breeds primates for medical research about 118 miles south of San Antonio.
A third monkey diagnosed with the virus Wednesday was being killed along with 47 others who were quarantined in the same room, and initial test results suggest authorities may also have to kill the rest of the 100 primates that arrived at the center March 21 from the Philippines. These unique strengths include the world’s largest captive baboon population, the world’s largest and best-characterized pedigreed primate population, the world’s largest group of geneticists committed to research with and management of captive nonhuman primates, one of the largest nonhuman primate censuses of any NPRC, the largest chimpanzee census of any NRPC, the capacity for nonhuman primate studies in Biocontainment Level 4, and a veterinary technical staff experienced in the management and use of nonhuman primates ranging from chimpanzees to marmosets.
We provide broad services in primate research to the southwestern region of the country, and serve the entire country with specialized technologies, capabilities, and primate resources, many of which are unique to the SNPRC. We provide services and conduct technical procedures requested by outside investigators participating in collaborative projects.
Baboons, SPF Indian-origin rhesus macaques, and marmosets are often available from our breeding colonies to sell to outside investigators who want to conduct research with them at the SNPRC. Yeah.. the scary part about that strain is after they cleaned and disinfected the buildings in Va and Tx they brought in more monkeys the following year which promptly contracted it again and died. They closed the buildings in both places and tore them down. |

Here's a question... If the monkeys were quarantined for 30 days prior to being shipped to the US, how come they developed EBO-Reston once they reached the US? The incubation period of EBOLA in nonhuman primates is 5-7 days.

Location: Here | Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Tom Frieden said Sunday the agency is “deeply concerned” by the second U.S. Ebola case. At a news conference that began at 11 a.m. ET, Frieden said it’s possible we’ll see more U.S. Ebola cases in the coming days.
This is in stark contrast to the way the CDC messaged its strongly controlled narrative two weeks ago. Back then the CDC went out of its way to say there was no chance Ebola could spread in Texas, all while claiming it has been fully contained. But now they’re saying it’s very possible we’ll see more cases in the coming days?
