Sometimes I think those stupid crazed heifers are worse than any animal that charges! My parents used to carry a baseball bat when they were feeding a group that had a couple of my brother's former show heifers. They weren't afraid at all!! (and they were Limos.... imagine that!) Prayers that everyone gets to feeling better!! |

| I bought a nice horse about 10 years ago had a wound on outside of cannon bone huge, sedated her cleaned all pround flesh and put pickle lime on it and wraped it changed wrap once a week healed up fine. Also, one of my friends horses hurt herself in trailer at a show cut herself on the leg where you could not stich and she really did not, have the money to pay a vet to come to,show and could not stich it anyway. Well since it was fresh i got some telfa pads and taped the on the cut and borrowed a clean no bow legwrap and wrapped that thing and put vetrap on top of it vet came out tues and rewraped told the girl that she could not have done anybetter. just made me feel good. I a mare that had gotton hurt as a long yearling it was so bad they had to knock her out and lay her down to wrap it so,they did 2 times first week and then every 4 or 5 days, just like the casting. The pressure wrap is great.

Location: Kansas | Glad to hear your husband is getting better. We also had a very similar injury on one of our colts over a year ago he kicked literally through a piece of tin in our shed and cut it very deep to where you could see the bone and it also got in the hoof wall. Thank God it missed all ligaments and tendons.
It left a nasty scar and now deformed hoof. He is still rideable it is just cosmetic now. I tried to upload pictures but it wouldn't work. We used vetricyn wonder dust and a lot of iodione.

Wow, glad your husband is doing better. Hope your other guy heals up too. Here is to a better rest of the week! Hugs.
Thank you, he has a broken pelvis, shoulder, and his head is still swollen but he wouldn't stay in the hospital... I take him back next week to see what we are going to do next.
DANG girl!! You need a couple of stiff drinks and a "time-out" for a while!!
Nitrofurazone works really well on lower extremities and proud flesh. Comes in a big blue tub with they yellow lid.
Tell your husband he needs a good cow dog to take the crazy heifers on for him! Eeeeck! I'm glad he seems to be doing well enough they let him go home! prayers for a smooth recovery for everyone! |

How is your hubby doing?
good, driving me crazy!!
He has some bleeding in his shoulder but nothing to worry about I guess. Still can't walk very well but he seems to think that its feeling better. Bruises are turning yellow now so they should be gone soon. All in All he's on the uphill.
Thanks for asking!!! |

| Taken 11/9/14, almost 4 weeks....... Still lame, swelling up high around the digital flexor tendon, not sore to the touch but I can't determine if she's lame from the wound or if it has to do with the tendon. I first thought the swelling was secondary to the wound but now I'm thinking it's a separate injury.

| Update: 1/5/15
It's been several months now and the wound is almost healed, however she is still lame. Made an appointment with OSU and took her in this morning. Took more X-rays and found the culprit. WIRE! There is a piece of wire lodged in the coffin joint and has traveled to the opposite side. Vets were very surprised she was even weight bearing on that leg and that there was no infection. She goes into surgery tomorrow morning to get it removed and once we are in the clear from infection I'll bring her home. Please think good thoughts that there is no complications and the road to recovery will be smooth. We won't know how sound she'll be when this is all over but I'm hoping for her that she'll be 100%, two is too young for her to be deemed a broodmare only!
