I don't have any intention of using hay nets again! At shows and rodeo's we will just use one of those big buckets and at home its going on the ground. Oh well, it's so not worth a hurt horse!
I don't have BOT boots, nor do I have the money right now to get a pair :( They are on my wish list though!

We have hay nets hung for all our stalled horses.  They are tied in front of the stalls OUTSIDE their stall gate. They can't get in trouble that way.

I'm going to second the small hole hay nets. I bought several from national roper supply and the holes are 2" so a hoof can't get through them. I suppose a nail might snag it if the horse is shod, but all mine are barefoot. I also hung an eye bolt really high in the stall to attach my bag to when I have to put them up. Otherwise they are loose unless at a show or injured. Glad yours is doing better
