When I was a teenager we made a zip line off the old cement grain silo, I think the climb up the silo was worse than the ride down holding onto an upside down set of bike handlebars with a pulley on the end. |

Hubby made one for our boys and their cousins when they were little, had it out in my pasture and they loved that thing, and he used handle bars off a bike for it too. They went zip lining up in the hill country last month and holy cow they were way up there.. They are planning on going back soon hubby had a blast.. |

So instead of paying $20+ per lure is is "investing" in the tools to make more. Muskie lures are like bits...you always need 1 more then you have..... |

 Go For It!
Location: Texas | My husband has taken up bike riding, (as in road bike). He rides 100 miles a week, give or take. He has an app on his phone called Strava where they list "challenges" so you can become "king of the hill". He turned 61 this year and he is probably in the best shape of his life. I don't mind this hobby too much, it keeps him pretty fit, ;). And besides, bikes are way cheaper than cars and horses!
PS⦠He takes a really good joint supplement that helps keep those old knees working, so he stays pretty sound, too.

Location: Southeast Louisiana | We have a place here where they do tractor pulls. They have classes ranging from lawn mowers to big, powerful tractors. Not so much a speed thing, but the power! Looks like it would be a rush to take one down the track. |

That WILL take a lot of his time, but it would be a good hobby for him to have.
The other kind of dragster (what was that "splat" name??? LOL) usually have a turbo jet engine on them, and therefore WAAAY expensive. The other kind of dragsters (made out of cars with real engines) would be fun for him. Tell your husband, if at all interested in this idea, to look up the 2015 Ford Mustang GT...they come from factory with an electronic line lock...for drag racing. Just a warning, drag racing is not covered under warranty. |

Location: MI | My father-in-law drag races a Chevy S10 (somewhat souped up, of course) in the street class. I don't know the ins and outs, except that he loves it and it's incredibly loud with young kids (buzzkill, I know!). Not incredibly cheap, but he really enjoys it. |

My hubby's dad had to switch gears from drag racing to just building and showing cars. They have a mini collection and go all over showing them, rebuilding others and keeping them in top conditions.
But it's like my husband tells me. He will have his cars, I have my horses. He says his 10 cents worth on his concerns and I consider them. Same the other way around. Whether it's regarding money or saftey, if there's a concern, we honor it.
I think there are ways he can be competitive. My uncle dreamed of being in drag week for years And now that he is 59, he has been in it for two years in a row. He has a 11 sec truck and is having the time of his life. Good luck to you! |

You can put your 2015 Mustang on the track, but it has to be for time only runs, so perfect for a test and tune night. You cannot have another vehicle in the other lane as that would constitute as competition.
As far as finding a "safe" hobby, well, hubby can argue that barrel racing is not safe. So, let him do what he wants to do.... as long as it isn't something too crazy. |

He does argue that barrel racing isn't safe says i could fall off anytime... i said ok... so i break an arm... one slight false move in a zoom splat and your dead! no broken arm! a
I'd would be all game for him building a full size car cuz to me that just seems safer! and i even have an old 70's camaro he could start with ;) Thanks ya'll for your help! Maybe we can go watch some races and see if anything catches his eye! (just hopefully not the zoom splats!) |
