I feed mine with alfalfa pellets and free choice coastal. If I have any that need any extra kick, I add a pound of Ultium. I'm running ott triple a 1250+ lb horses. My one little cowbred gets 3/4 lb and coastal. She looks phenomenal. That's it.
Ditto, except the Ultium. I have two that get about 3/4# Renew Gold per day each, and about 1# of Standlee alfalfa pellets, free choice hay, and I turn them out to graze for a few hours a day. They are both fat and feel great! They also have a salt block, but don't really seem to care for it, so I assume they're getting all the minerals they need from their feed.
For harder keepers, I would use the Renew Gold as a supplement to their regular feed. |

I'd sure like to try it, if I could get it around $30ish a bag. Can't get it less than $48/bag though and that's just too high.Â
Holy cow, that's crazy! I get it for under $35/bag. Is there a TSC near you that can order it for you? |

Location: North Dakota | I think 4 cups is about 1lb. I believe the green scoop I have is 2 cups (can't tell since all the writing has worn off). I know 1.5lbs is about half a coffee can.
I feed my 2yr old 1lb, my gelding that isn't a hard keeper but needs more feed to keep a nice topline gets 1.5lbs and my hard keeper mare is getting 2.5lbs but I will be dropping her down to 2lbs soon. They have been on it for a little over a month and I am LOVING how they look! My mare looks the best she has ever looked! Super shiny, a very pleasant attitude, and is bulking up! I never thought her hip could look this nice. She is 9yrs old and is looking like a completely different horse. I cannot wait to see what she looks like once she has been on it longer and it gets turned out on grass. I have finally found a feed that I am sticking with. I am finally super happy and confident with my feed program. Before it just felt like a guessing game.

I do not own a scale, how does everyone else weigh their feed out?  Just bought a bag of RG yesterday and would like to start it tonight.Â
I got a measuring cup from my feed store. It's the same size as a 32 oz soda cup. So one 32 oz cup=1 lb of Renew Gold. I was also told that three measuring cups=1 lb. Some people say 4, some say 3. I should probably measure to be positive.

I was thinking my scoop was 2 cups but I wasn't sure. I just always weighed it out and knew how many scoops to give.

Good to know :) I've seen lots of people on here say 3, and just as many say 4, so I just go by the 32 oz cup amount
ETA: DUH, 1 cup=8 oz, so 4 cups =32 oz. Sometimes I make things harder than they should be...

3 cups is a pound. That's a regular kitchen measuring cup. I feed a cup and a half morning and nite with alfalfa pellets. My feed store had a cup made by renew gold that they gave with the feed. There was a thread on here where Winwillows confirmed its 3 cups = a pound of RG

I have measured and weighed RG several times to be sure because my measurements on my scoops were worn off and I couldn't read them. 4, 1 cup measurements = 1 pound of RG. I think in that thread that WW is confirming that the math is correct, not necessarily the information. Edited by svincent 2015-05-13 9:43 PM

Location: North Dakota | I've had great results feeding 1lb a day plus alfalfa/timothy pellets and beet pulp. I have been concerned with the omega 3 to 6 ratio since my horses get no fresh grass, so will probably start adding more flax but I don't want to change from the RG because it's just done wonders! One of my geldings increased 1-1.5 levels on the body scale in just over a month and blew my vet away. The other was in need of just a little weight and it really made him bloom. |

Well maybe he will come back on here and clear it up. I got one of the RG measure cups and the mark for 1 pound is 3 cups. |

Location: Willows, CA | It seems like everyone scoops RG out of the bag differently. You can scrape excess off of the top of a measuring cup you will fit a pound into four cups. You can just scoop a cup in the bag with some peaked above the rim and get a pound into three cups. The way I do it results in a pound being a little less than 3 1/2 cups. When people ask I tell them "a little over three kitchen measuring cups will be one pound. |

Is this once a day or twice a day? |

Location: Mississippi | I just started RG this week. My horses are turned out 24/7 and have plenty of grass - should I still add some alfalfa pellets? They were previously on Safechoice Sr and beet pulp. I am slowly switching over so they are still getting a little Sr mixed in with about 3/4 pound of RG |

You need to slowly change it over. start mixing it with the old grain and slowly wean them off the old grain and on to RG. I can't believe some horses don't like it. Every one of my horses absolutely LOVES it---and I thought they loved their grain before! |

| My horse turns his nose up at his pellets now if RG isn't in his feed. I thought he was having a mild colic or even ulcers coming back. Nope, 2 days later when the RG came to the feed store and I fed him, he was back to his feed gobbling self. Mix it with their old feed and they should get used to it. |

When someone says "3 cups", I take it to mean 3 LEVEL cups, not heaping. |
