Location: Louisiana | I live in Louisiana as well - just order a couple of the sstack blankets - really like the fit and the quality - ordered the med weight turnout. They are on sale for 114.99 with no shipping.

Location: South Dakota | Both my horses wear the Weatherbeeta Orican blankets. They have really held up and my horses are turned out in a big pen. This is like what I have: http://www.equinenow.com/store-item-69364 I got mine at Tractor Supply Company though. |

| Nice price ... I personally don't like the stable blankets b/c of the lack of gussets for movement in the shoulders. So, I choose the turnout blankets and prevent that problem. However, if they're just hanging out in a stall with it on, that one should do the trick.
ETA- I've had rub marks and missing hair from the stable blankets before :)

Location: up to my waist in you know what | If your horses will be going outside or anywhere where it might possibly get snagged on anything I would go with a higher denier #. The higher the # the better off you will be. |

Location: up to my waist in you know what | I like these.....I personally like the euro fit better on my horses. http://www.sstack.com/horse-blankets-and-sheets_waterproof-turnout-...
Also keep in mind if you decide to go with a closed front blanket to make sure your horses will tolerate it always going over their head....I never undo the fronts of my blankets for any of our horses, mostly because I'm lazy, but there are some that just won't tolerate it.

Location: In The Land of Cotton | I actually had to call Schneiders and talk to the rep. I told her the body style of the horse. Then told her I wanted the cheapest medium weight/waterproofed one. She was extremely helpful and found me one. I had certain criteria. I wanted no front hooks - head slip over type, and a belly band.
Try that. |

| I got talked into my first Schneiders blanket this winter and I am not disappointed.
1680d and I got medium fill. I really wish they had their liners in stock because I'd love to have one right now for this frigid stuff. I plan to get one as soon as they are back in stock and then he will have a sheet and the medum weight blanket and the liner to mix with them, pretty good set up I think.
Eta - his sheet is a weatherbeeta from tsc that I had to buy in a pinch 2 years ago, it's held up pretty well |

| Β I bought a few of these lastt year and they are still going strong this year! http://statelinetack.com/item/defender-1680d-high-neck-turnout-shee... of my horses fell through the ice on our pond yesterday and this blanket kept him relatively dry! The only complaint I have is one of my horses breaks the snaps on the front, but I just took the snaps off and looped it through to avoid that problem. Out of 4, I only had the problem with one horse, so I think he was just hard on them. But no rips or tears in anything. .. and cheap! |

Location: USA | http://www.sstack.com/horse-blankets-and-sheets_waterproof-turnout-blankets_fitted-v-free/stormshield-new-brition-original-turnouts/ This is the one I just got. Love it. I ordered midweight and I am in Minnesota and the mare who wears it is out 24/7 with 10 other mares. It is fits wonderful and is keeping her plenty warm in sub-zero temps |

This one is not available except in very limited sizes till July, though. This is an outstanding blanket! |

~BINGO~ - 2015-01-06 10:39 AM I would definitely check out Ebay. I was looking for an extra blanket before winter. Thank God I bought one becauseΒ hubby bought me a horse that has been in Phx, AZ weather, blanketed and under lights his entire life. Needless to say, he's pretty much hairless. Coming up to 0-20* temps was scary.
I actually ordered from TackMarket. I'm not sure how well known they are, but I got a 1200D 400 fill, rip stop, waterproof heavy weight turnout blanket for $65. It has held up wonderful thus far. Plus, they come in vibrant, eye popping patterns.
http://stores.ebay.com/Tackmarket
Just a thought! Good luck in your search. I know what you mean on the prices. They can hurt when you need more than one.
Β
Β ^^^^^ THIS!^^^^ I have had really good luck with mine.
I second the Ebay/TACKRUS blankets. I took a chance on one of the heavyweight 1200D blankets and have been very happy with it. It was $83 or $86 with free shipping. (note, that horse is turned out in a pen with quite a bit of thornapple and it is still in perfect shape!).
I will probably be buying more unless I come across a killer deal on something. |

All my horses are wearing tough 1 blankets. I really like them and they have held up really well! I was stuck on weatherbeeta's forever and I tell ya, these tough 1 are just as good! Some of mine are 4 years old and have never even gotten so much as a snag and they fit awesome!!! |
