If I could save every week what I spend on eating out at lunch I would be doing great. I've tried to start taking my own lunch but there's not always anything left over from the night before. My family eats out at night at least 3x a week so the but day there's not normally left overs from that night. |

| If you have direct deposit, set up a 2nd account for horse stuff. Have money deducted from your check & deposited every paycheck. You decide how much you can afford to set aside. As for spending it on other things, you're the only one that can fix that. And you can. |

I don't really think you should ask him to help you out, you've got 3 months to save...that's $125/month. Â Honestly, if you are not able to save that amount between now and then, you need to make some changes - either in how many horses you have or whatever else you spend money on that you don't really need.Â
I'm gonna ask him about the care credit or start making payments now. I just don't want him to think I'm asking for help.
You can go online and see who accepts Care Credit

Those sound like good things to ask him about. You're what, 22? There probably aren't many 22 year olds that have three horses that need their teeth done and are expected to pay for it. I'm sure he'd rather start accepting your money or Care Credit instead of trying to cash a hot check. Not saying that you'd write him one, but he'll probably appreciate the pro-activeness of it.
Add up what you spend on eating out at lunchtime during the week and head to the grocery store with that amount.. Try to only buy for the number of days you've set money aside for and viola! You'll have some cash left over!. You can get stuff to make samdwhiches, frozen entrees and a multitude of food items that you can easily transport and I guarantee that you'll start seeing your money disappearing a lot slower as long as you don't pick up a new habit to spend $$ on. Good luck! Learn while you're still young and not living paycheck to paycheck your entire life! |

| When I was younger and single, struggling along, I would withdraw what I expected to spend on groceries, fuel and whatever else I would need... in cash and leave my debit card at home. It really helped me to budget. I always knew how much money I had left to get me through to the next paycheque. Less likely to overspend, plus packing a lunch can be way healthier than eating out.

STOP EATING OUT!!! All that eating out is adding at least $100 a week. Millions and millions of Americans, working Americans cook at night. Have some backbone and self control. Set up 2 accounts, one for savings you dont touch at all. Not for any reason and the other savings for bigger horse bills like their teeth. Pay yourself in those 2 accounts first and stick to your budget!!!! You will never get where you want to be if your not strong enough. Addicted to frivilous unneccessary spending is almost like an alcoholic. To weak to say NO. |

Bingo, I know people say 22 is young but it is time to step up. I paid for my own horses from the time I was 14 and could baby sit for money. At 22 I was trying to purchase my first home. I would pay the vet in advance, get care credit or apply for a secured credit card and only use it for your horses. You probably need to start building your own credit anyway. If your horses mean enough to you, you will put them before anything else. For me it a no brainer eating out or taking care of my horses? I'd eat raman for month lol. |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | Stop spending money on things that are not necessary! When I was your age I had a great job, almost alway took my lunch to work and I made sure I always put $100 or more away from each paycheck for my "fun" stuff.
I am almost 30 now and I am still the same way. If I don't need it I don't get it therefore leaving me with a lot more money for my horses. I have less bills now since I saved and have been able to pay things off. |

Location: Back in MT BABY!!! | Just a word of caution....if you are "horrible with money" a credit card would be the last thing I would get. Way to easy to just "charge it". Start of with giving yourself a budet and saving money...once you are able to do this then I would look into a credit card. |

| I second and third the stop eating out.
What I do for work, is I will cook Sunday for the entire week, I will make all my meals and throw them in the freezer, then I take one out each week.
One day after work I will meal plan for the next week, and purchase the groceries I need.
Some things I have done is
Stir fry
Chicken fried rice
Barbecue chicken
Sweet and sour meatballs (from scratch)
Mashed potatoes, vegetable, meat
Chicken Cesar salad
With every meal I ensure I have a vegetable.

If you are stealing money from your horse fund for wants, then stop doing it. If you are stealing money from your horse fund for needs, then you can't afford your horses. |

Put teu money in envelopes with the thing written on them, and once the money is gone, that's it. You need to change your way of thinking
^^^^^ THIS......Unless you change those two factors, you will NEVER be able to keep a budget.....It is called growing up and taking responsibility for your actions.....You have been given some very good insight on how to save money....different accounts, taking your lunch, etc....BUT you have to change your way of thinking. |

I would try not to eat out at all, make 2 bank accounts, one of which you put half of your monthly pay checks in (if you work) and the other half in your "spending account." The spending account should be used for groceries, clothes, and stuff you need, rather than eating out or going to starbucks. |
