| I started mine on pentosan Wednesday of this week. I am very excited. I have a 6yo that I want to go to song 3-day races on this year and a 6yo that is off the track that I haven't patterned yet. I will give both 1 injection every 2 weeks and maybe a booster for the 3days or I thought about getting legend for the Thursday of the 3day.

FLITASTIC - 2015-01-30 10:32 AM My vet used to order it for me from Wedgewood and it was 200.00 for a 30 ML bottle. I buy from horseprerace now and its 139 for 50ml. It took me a while to trust them but have been through few bottles with great results. I am actually seeing FASTER and better results with the pre race stuff. I have no idea why, they are both same concentration of active ingredient etc. Maybe there is a carrier difference? Have no idea. But my horses respond within a few hours of injection. My good horse has a fusing hock that "Pops" every step he takes if not on pentosan. When it starts popping about every 10-14 days I give a shot right when I get home from work at 2PM. I feed horses and let them eat until 430 or so and when I go ride no popping noise what so ever. Its weird. LOL But it works! If I am not mistaken, and I could be, LOL but Pentosan of any type is not FDA approved for Injection in horses in the United states. SO no matter who you get it from its all off label and you won't have a leg to stand on if something happens?
Β Point taken and you are correct.Β I guess my issue with using horseprerace is when asking my vet about where to buy and listing either wedgewood or horseprerace he was the one that had directed me towards wedgewood.Β Once again, many people do not know it and many vets do not follow the rules but wedgewood is just like walking into a CVS, if your doc calls a perscription in for you, your doc doesn't make extra money.Β If your vet was charging you $200 from wedgewood it was because HE was upcharging, which is illegal too.Β My last bottle was delivered to the house direct from wedgewood 100ml for $170.Β
AND I'm still not counting our horseprerace just in case things go south at wedgewood but I do know one thing Pentosan is a good drug, that many people have NO idea how good it is.
Yea I have discovered just how good it its. THere has been TONS AND TONS of research and good results using it for YEARS in Australia and New Zealand. I don't think an Ozzy horse has different joints or arthritis than USA horses. LOL They have some crazy stuff on there. I also have a bottle of the Platinum from them, as well as a bottle of dex, and Omeprazole. THey also have LEGEND (Equivelant ) for $15 a dose!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey! question about the other products you have used from there. You can message me if you would rather. I just got in the Omep (small syringes) and started using them and have not seen any different results I was seeing with the GastroGard but I was wondering your experience with it. |

I put 2 horses and a dog on the regular Pentosan from horseprerace and have been very happy with it. I could tell a difference after the first shot. BUT, I am having to give it every 2 weeks to the horses...the dog does fine once a month. I'm going to try the Gold and see if I get more mileage out of it. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I have 3 on it now. Did the loading dose and then waited a month for the next dose. I have to say, I honestly think the 35ish pony is walking out better. He is much ornerier...but that could be because he is getting shots lol. I really do think he is stepping in and out of the barn with a bit more gusto than before. My other son's 22 yr old gelding is also less creaky and is wanting to step out better when we ride. It could be spring is here, green grass, who knows. I just think I am seeing some results of the Pentosan Gold. I just got to 3 weeks on the loading dose with my gelding that had broken his pelvis some time back. He had a yr and 7 months off and I just put my 5th ride on him yesterday. He was feeling quite well, but I am giving it to him more for precautionary reasons. He was always sound after his injury to ride, just got back sore running barrels. So we shall see how much we can do before he gets sore, hopefully he doesn't. |

Location: Bandera, TX | FLITASTIC - 2015-01-30 2:38 PM The protocol is to give 4 shots one week apart. The dose comes out to be 5cc for smaller horses and 6cc for bigger ones. There is an actual dose on the website. Most on here give 5-6cc depending on horse size. Reason for dosing is it is an anticoagulant of sorts. Mild one. SO I would not give to horses who are bleeders within a few days of hard exercise. My good horse gets 1 dose every 10-14 days or so. My colt is monthly or more if being used hard. Both were given the 4 dose loads.
You've given awesome advice...popping and bleeding to be specific.
Your also in a small group of people I know giving Pentosan to colts. I thought I would be able to "test" the results on my Mighty Mind Bender X Mystic Eye colt but I had to put off going on him this year. I can tell you this, I've worked him 3 times, back in the winter and the early Spring. He broke the ground like Beduino bred horses. So, is it the Pentosan or just breeding and age? I hope that he can stay together (he's built to) but I have no problems spending good coin on him to keep him healthy. Can't wait for next year.
Again, thanks for your wisdom and sharing it forward. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | My doctor prescribed me this med for IC/PBS which is painful bladder syndrome, so it's hard to wrap my head around it for the use in horses for their joints. I didn't like the odds of it helping and the side effects so I never took it. |

Location: Phoenix | I'm trying to decide what to do with my arthritic horse. I can't decide if I should do the Adeuan loading just two times a year, or Adequan loading and Pentosan monthly, or Pentosan loading and monthly. Was definitely leaning towards including Pentosan one way or another. |

| Load dose will be 5ccs each for average sized horse and there are 4 so 20cc total. Then 5cc monthly. Or weekly whatever you need |

5 ccs for smaller horses or 6 ccs for larger horses once a week for 4 weeks for the loading dose. Then once per month after the loading dose. |

Location: North Dakota | So I want to touch on one subject further. I have a colt who just turned 4 years old this year that I just started on Pentosan. He doesn't have any health problems but I started him on it as a "preventative". Being that Pentosan is cheaper than Adequan. I have my 9-year-old gelding (with known issues) on Adequan.
Sounds like a few people have done this, Pentosan as a preventative for a young horse, but not a lot??
Thoughts? |

| Pentosan is better for horses with known issues. Adequan is best for prevention. Having said that I did the adequan load with my 4 year old colt and use Pentosan monthly. I Am going to do the 7 shot series 2x a year with the colt. My 10 year old with issues just gets Pentosan. |

I put my new guy (20yo) on actiflex 4000 a month ago. He's "popping" everywhere now from his neck down to his ankles. He wasn't before...not sure if I should open the gallon or not. I'm pretty sure that was $100 wasted.
After reading a bit on here, I may try the pentosan. Could you explain about the popping you mentioned?
Also, adequan loading and pentosan or just pentosan? |
