| I have a bach in Ag Econ and an associate's in Agronomy. I work for a large grain company in farm origination and also work with one of our largest soybean oil customers on verifying sustainable farming practices in our draw region. Overall I love my job - everyone has days when they want to bang their head on the wall, mine are just few and far between.
I also serve on our origination review team, and one of our biggest priorities is making sure we have the right people in the right field. My advice to you is before you go back to school for something, really think about your likes and dislikes and what you are going to be happy doing. For example, while an RN might pay well, if you are super analytical and not much of a people person, it may not be the choice for you. If you are super good with numbers and really enjoy checking and double checking that things are correct - accounting might be the way to go.
We see way too many people at our recruiting events who's basic personality does not align with what they want to pursue as a career. It doesn't end well. |

Location: west of East Texas | I have a BBA in Accounting. I got my CPA license about 10 years after I got out of college. Now you pretty much need to stay in college for the 5th year and get the Masters then sit for the CPA exam right then. In my opinion, this profession is sure thing to have a fantastic career that will easily allow you to fund your horse habit. Every industry needs accountants so you could pick an area that interests you to work in.
Regardless of your interests, take a good look at the job availability, economic swings impact, and career total earnings. |

Location: where the wind blows | I currently work admin in an ag related gov office. When I started I loved my job but after management changes in the office and communiting 1 hour each way I'm burnt out. Im going to be taking a very early retirement this spring ( basically Ill get to keep my medical/dental plan, with not much left afterwards a month). I'm Going back to my first love, helping hubby run our farm/ranch. I plan to have a garden again and I'm hoping to maybe train and sell a horse a year. I also started selling Younique makeup and I'm having so much fun with that so hoping I can grow it into something to give me a bit of horse play money. I suggest finding what you love. |

Location: Texas | I'm in vet school, halfway through my 2nd year. Living the dream!! I can't decide what I want to focus on. Depends on what jobs are out there. I really like repro but I also am a fan of lameness/sports medicine. And I can't rule out the dog and cat/mixed animal jobs for the sake of job security... but ideally I would like to stick with equine medicine. Although, odds are better for me as far as running barrels if I take a small animal job. |

Location: SE Missouri | I've been in disaster restoration, southern yellow pine, training horses full time, then jumped into crop insurance. I now hold two positions in crop insurance. I'm a field marketing rep in IL and SE Missouri (25%role) and my main job is managing our company crop insurance agents in the Delta and West. I love this company, I travel ALOT, and never dreamed I'd be a manager (and I'm the only female sales manager and the youngest manager, lol.. Crap I was the first female field rep and still the youngest one). It has it's days but I have an awesome group of people that I work with. I do really miss working directly with the farmers.
Being a manager has more struggles than wins and lots of griping. I lovingly say I work with a bunch of peacocks personality wise. I seriously have an amazing group to work with and get to learn a lot from them also. I'm lucky that I left a big book of business that I built from zero or it would have been really tough to earn their trust (or respect).. |

| I was thirty before I started college, graduated five years later with a B.S., went back to school eight years later and received a B.S. in Radiologic Technology. It's never too late to go to college or change careers. |

Location: PNW | I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in English Literature and Linguistics. I am licensed to teach anything k-8 in a contained classroom(no switching classes for subjects) or I can teach just an English class, such as 9-12.
Right now though, I am a domestic engineer and am helping run my husband's logging business and the family ranch. I may go to work in the classroom once my little guys are in school, but I'm not sure. |

Location: North Dakota | I'm an after hours dispatcher for linemen. We handle over 70 different companies and it can be extremely stressful, the hours suck (12hr shifts on weekends and I work at least 3 weekends out of the month as well as 2-5 8hr shifts during the week). Working with my team and the linemen is fun and when it's quiet we get to play cards, surf Internet, etc. I'm in school but am just totally burnt out. I am going for computer information systems. I switched to that from business. No career has caught my eye. It seems like EVERYONE recommends medical field or accounting related stuff, but math and science were my worst subjects and they don't interest me at all. I worked up to advanced accounting in hs but hated it. I'm at a total stand still and I hate it. I just want a job where I can work with my hands rather than at a desk. I like to be outside too.

Location: MN | I am a realtor, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it, no sale, no pay though, I was fortunate enough to make a great deal last year my first full year in, paid off my truck, remodeled house, new saddle, new horse, saved some, but you just never know what kind of year it will be. I like to sell land, and that is where the money is, (it teds to be higher priced), I also sell near Rochester MN where everything is higher priced because off Mayo, but I went to school for 6 wknds in a row and took the hardest test ever!! |

| I have my Bachelors of Science in Animal Science. I also have a 1 year equine certificate through my university (Texas Tech). Graduated Dec. 2012. I'm a realtor's assistant full time but I'm also a realtor myself and have been licensed for about 6 months. I'm working to close some deals haha. I'm also a vet tech on the weekends for small and large animals. And I barrel race a bunch, hoping to get my permit soon and fill it, then get my card (dreams!!). |
