I have not had but one soft drink in over a month.  I am drinking a gallon of water per day.  I have lost almost 10 pounds and not changed my eating habbits.  I think I have had one glass of tea in that  period of time, but that's all.

I'm addicted to the fizz. The next best substitute that I have found is Deer Park Sparkling Water - Orange or Lemon flavored.

No artificial anything and it packs a big fizz and the taste isn't bad.

I quit diet cokes many years ago and drank ice tea instead and I've now been off the ice tea for over two years and drink water and put different Essential Oils in my water.

Wheeew I feel for you CP!  I was a DC drinking fool all through college and many years after and slower I switched over to tea that I brewed myself but still used Sweet N Low which I hate those chemicals.  I finally got myself to green tea with Stevia and lemon and I love it.  I am not a coffee drinker so the caffeine was not much of a problem.
Now, I JONES for Mexican Cokes wayyyy too often! UGH!  I can go a pretty long time without one but if I have a tough day I seem to crave those dang things.  I only drink a 12 oz glass bottle but I swear Coca Cola, Pepsi and the others put some secret ingredient in their products that makes us crave it like "CRACK" in a bottle.

Dang I wish I could drink more water like you NTO.  I just can't bring myself to like water unless I'm out at the barn and sweating like a you know what and then I can down a couple bottles of it.

Mmm, that actually sounds good.  I wonder if I could find that at Kroger here in Texas?  They seem to have EVERYTHING of EVERYTHING in any food product.  Gotta check it out.  I do like those ICE sodas but they are full of a lot of junk which I won't drink anymore.

I used to drink Cokes like crazy.  Got started on Vanilla Cokes in a bottle, had to have at least two a day.  Finally quit and all I drink now is water and hot green tea with a tiny bit of honey.  I am a big believer in green tea, hot or cold.  Great stuff.

I was drinking way too much Diet Coke and not enough water.
Here's what worked for me:
I pour a 16-24 oz. glass of water and fill it about 3/4 of the way. I fill the other 1/4 with Diet Coke. It tastes good, gives me some bubbles and works for me.
Not a perfect solution, but I am now getting MUCH more water, and a LOT LESS Diet Coke.
Just thought I would share...............

I don't like water at all. And I don't like all the chemicals and have problems when I eat splenda. There's a lot of healthy alternatives until you start reading labels! This stuff is not bad and Deer Park regular water is everywhere around here. I bet Kroger would have it. If not, look at other sparkling water brands that have flavors. Just read the label really close.

I have tried many ways of getting away from them. Currently I'm getting bottled water and adding the Mio Energy squeeze bottles for flavoring. They have caffeine but not all the other nastiness of Diet Coke. If you want to suffer through the weak long withdrawal, ibuprofen is your friend.

It's poison. Once aspartame warms to 80 degree which they do in storage, aspertame turns to a toxin.  The headaches are withdrawls.  Get off the stuff.

I miss Ice Tea real bad but I can't do any caffeine and any artificial sweetners so I'm stuck with water. Even the no caffeine tea I brewed aggravated my bladder.

bowersk - 2015-02-05 9:31 AM OH yes, Kombucha is great too, if you can get to a store that has it. Like CPC, I think it was the bubbles that made me so crazy for Diet Coke. It really could've been any soda, but that was what my mom drank and we always had it in the house so... But, it IS possible to quit. I lost a bit of weight after quitting (which is always good motivation!) and I started thinking about all of the horrible stuff I was putting in my body (ALL of that aspartame), which really helped keep me on the right track when I was having a craving.

ETA after reading the post above: I checked my La Croix water can just now to be sure, and they don't use any acid, just CO2 to carbonate the water plus whatever flavor the water is. Maybe they used to use it, but I dont know for sure; I do know that they don't use anything artificial now. No artificial ingredients, made in the USA and ten times better for you than Diet Coke!

C02 carbonation in any form is bad...

I drink diet coke for years I loved the vanilla diet coke. I drink about 2 cans a day.
It caused me to have esophageal ulcers. It was horribly painful and took about a year to get completely cleared up. I won't touch the stuff now

Decaf Lipton tea brewed in my iced tea maker tastes just like the leaded stuff.  My boss tries to tell me she can taste the difference but I sneak it to her all the time and she cannot tell the difference between the leaded and unleaded.  I LOVE my iced tea maker - and I drink the decaf brewed stuff year round, even today, when it's 16 degrees out this morning.

Wean yourself off slowly, buy a pack of those tiny cans and limit yourself to one a day, then every other, every three days, once a week, and then once in a great while or never again! It will refuse the withdrawal symptoms of you gradually wean yourself off instead of going cold turkey.

Maybe I'm the odd man out, so to speak, but they do not bother me at all. I know I probably need to quit, but I do love them. I have read different things about them having formaldehyde and other really nasty ingredients ...so, really?? I do take some of that "information"'with a large grain of salt!! I am not saying they are healthy....but come on....they are legal, lol!!

Slice lemons for you water. It gives a little flavor. I used to drink a ton of diet coke but alway been a water fan. The more water I drink the more I want it. I haven't drank a whole can of diet coke since December 31 :)
