| I copied this comment, thought it made a great point.
Certainly there were crimes committed in the name of god in ancient history. Every god that came along required sacrifices from the people, the priests made sure of that. The crusades were called the holy wars and the fight was against the Muslims that had taken over the holy city. Also remember in those times religion was picked by the king, not the people. Government and church were the same. It is not that way here and in many other countries now. It is that way in Muslim countries. The church runs the government. That is what makes Islam so dangerous, not because of religion but because of control. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Say what you want about George HW Bush, if he were president, ISIS would be hiding out in tents and caves. The way he put together that coalition before Desert Storm was masterful. He talked Israel into staying out of the coalition efforts, even though Hussein lobbed Scuds at them. In return we protected them with Patriot Missle batteries. The result was almost the entire Arab world joined the coalition at least to some extent.

No one wants boots on the grounds. But this is a new world and "boots on the ground" is used to describe mass troop deployment. It doesn't include the Special Operators that continue to be on the ground in all modern conflicts. They are there. And I'm pretty sure our "special" guys are wearing their boots.
I'm tired of this term "no boots on the ground".

King Abdullah has taken a clear stand and wants to go all out to defeat these evil bastards. We can support his efforts and it would probably save us hundreds of billions in the long run. This is the chance we've been waiting for.....Arab states willing to step up to the plate. Hopefully other Arab states will follow his lead....UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Morocco, etc.... |

You are right. I stand corrected. If history has taught us anything it's that we should never intervene and stop evil. Isolationism is the way to go. We are protected by two vast oceans. We shouldn't have interfered in Europe's war in 1941. I'm sure the world would be a much better place. We can't stop genocide anyway. It will go away and play itself out.
