Having had to take care of a PSSM horse for a client no I would pass and would advise clients to do the same. The clients horse is a fast mare and super catty but I carry an arsenal of drugs with me every time she hauls her some where in the off chance she ties up. She's on a regulated work schedule and diet but she still ties up.
There are too many nice horses out there to risk it on a PSSM horse.

In short my answer would be NO. My neighbor's horse is PSSM and it's a daily struggle to keep him happy and comfortable. If she misses even one day of exercising him it gets bad. She feeds him correctly and works him everyday and he still has bad days. If I already owned and loved the horse then I would deal with it but after watching what it's like I would not buy one on purpose. Â
This is my feeling also.

Absolutely "NOT" if you've never experienced it, the heartache with it is beyond words. Plus you better have deep pockets as it's a game changer. I will only buy horses that are 5 panel tested N/N and if I suspect PSSM2 I will pass. I hope they come up with better test for PSSM2 besides muscle biopsy. And now that all AQHA stallions have to be tested in order to register foals in 2016, it helps us who like to breed to pick 5 panel N/N tested seeing as AQHA will give you the results on any stallion tested.
