nuevocowgirl - 2015-02-22 9:22 PM I haven't been following the auction details, but I didn't expect the bidders to be mostly local businesses? I would have thought Coke, Pepsi, or some big name companies would have been in on this? Or is it just for small businesses?

It's anyone who has the money and want to..... Wade Sundell just won the bid for a steer wrestler just to put his own name on the guy's back I guess.

Coke and Pepsi won't sponsor rodeo anymore. Pepsi pulled rodeo sponsorship a long, long time ago.  Coke held out and sponsored rodeo for a while longer.....animal rights pressure as many national sponsors.  It would have to be an independent Coke/Pepsi distributor who would sponsor.
Basically this auction is not that well known..... and The Oscars are on right now. LOL
You know how mainstream rodeo is and as mainstream as many think it can be.

Was the MVP the one who bought Sharin and Kassidy? Sounds like they go above and beyond!

The mainstream audience would probably disagree with our enjoyment of this auction.  I was just joking and making a point that rodeo doesn't appeal to the masses like Nascar, MLB, NFL, and NBA like many think it would under the right management.  I could be wrong.

Is everyone going on live auction?  They seem to be missing some or not going in order.  I am so confused

What's the point of this? Does money go to the contestants or the American or charity or something?

I don't know.  I noticed they weren't going in the Lot#order.
Looks like the crowd is thinning out a bit too...unless it's just the camera angles.

The one who wins the bid gets his/her business name on the contestants back.  85% of the money goes to OKC Cowboy Hall of Fame, Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Ft. Worth, and another hall of fame... maybe PRCA Hall of Fame.  Then 15 % of the bid goes to the contestant.

Actually it is the other way on the %, 85 to the contestant and 15 to the charities.  Pretty cool!

The people bidding did not have a bidders number on that one so they started the bidding again
